The Epistle
(Greek first)
I' Provscwmen. (Let us be attentive.)
Y' (intoned) Their souls will dwell among the righteous.
(verse) To You, O Lord, have I cried, O my God.
I' Sofiva. (Wisdom.)
Y' The Reading is from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Thessalonians.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-17)
I' Provscwmen. (Let us be attentive.)
Y' Brethren, we would not have you ignorant concerning those who are asleep, lest
you should grieve like others who have no hope. For if we believe Jesus died and rose
again, so with him God will bring those also who have fallen asleep through Jesus.
For this we say to you in the word of the Lord, that we who live, who survive until the
Lords coming, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself
with a cry of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God
will come down from heaven; and the dead in Christ shall rise up first. Then we who
live, who survive, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air, and so we shall ever be with the Lord.
I' Eirhvnh soi tw anaginwvskonti. (Peace be unto you the reader.)
Y' (sung) Allhlouvi&a` Allhlouvi&a` Allhlouvi&a.
(intoned) Happy the one you have chosen and adopted: he shall dwell in your courts.
(sung) Allhlouvi&a` Allhlouvi&a` Allhlouvi&a.
(intoned) And his name shall survive for ever and ever.
(sung) Allhlouvi&a` Allhlouvi&a` Allhlouvi&a.

Y' Kai tw pneuvmativ sou. (And with your spirit.)

Provscwmen.
(The Reading is from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. Let us be attentive.)
Y' Dovxa soi, Kuvrie, dovxa soi. (even) (Glory to You, O Lord, glory to You.)
I' The Lord said, Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my
name, saying, I am he! and, The time is at hand! Do not go after them. And when
you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified; for this must first take place, but the
end will not be at once. And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon
the earth distress of nations ... for it will come suddenly like a snare; for it will come
upon all who dwell upon the face of the whole earth. But watch at all times, praying
that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand
before the Son of man.
Y' Dovxa soi, Kuvrie, dovxa soi. (Glory to You, O Lord, glory to You.)

I'
For us and for our salvation, He came down from heaven and was incarnate by the
Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and He suffered and was buried.
On the third day He rose according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have
no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father,
who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who spoke
through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I expect the resurrection of the dead.
And the life of the ages to come. Amen.
