EFLD

Function Introduction
Exit line

Entry line
EFLD is set as a FLD value filter like FLD Region. The work
procedure is set as the following.
1. Define entry line and exit line of the drawbead to define EFLD
region. These lines can be imported into eta/Post.
2. The user can set a reference frame (the default is frame 1).
Use the entry line and exit line as drive lines to calculate skid
marks between the reference frame and the current frame. The
skid area of the exit line defines the limit of the EFLD applicable
region.
3. For each element in the EFLD region, it calculates the FLD
compensated value based on the decrease of major strain value.
The crack can be reduced and the compensated result is closer to
the actual phenomena.
4. Plot FLD result in the EFLD region.

EFLD GUI
1. Added an EFLD button in the FLD dialog.
2. Click EFLD and the EFLD dialog opens.
3. Toggle on EFLD to set the EFLD filter on/
off.
4. Show EFLD Area Only toggle sets the
display mode of EFLD area. If it is on, only
EFLD elements are plotted. Other
elements are treated as no data.
If it is off, EFLD elements with other
elements are plotted in the regular FLD
result.
5. Reference Frame slider sets the reference
frame.
6. Set Entry Line will invoke the selection of
EFLD entry line.
7. Set Exit Line will invoke the selection of
EFLD exit line.
8. Apply will apply the current EFLD
setting and re-plot FLD result.

Method to Find EFLD Elements

Exit line skid area
(between the 2 blue lines)

After defining exit line in EFLD dialog, the line will be used as the
drive line to find the skid mark between the current frame and the
reference frame and find the skid area as shown in the left picture
(area between blue lines). The elements located in the skid area
are defined as EFLD elements.

End point

If the entry line or exit line is enclosed, 2

enclosed skid lines will be defined. The area
between the 2 skid lines is the skid area.

End point
If the entry line or exit line is not enclosed, 2
opened skid lines will be defined. Connect the
starting points and end points of line 1 and line 2
to define the skid area.

The main process of use EFLD

Plot FLD

Enter EFLD DIALOG

Turn on toggle EFLD on

Set entry line and exit line

If plot result on EFLD area only

If plot EFLD area with other regular FLD area

Turn on toggle Show EFLD Area Only

Turn off toggle Show EFLD Area Only

Click Apply to plot

EFLD Result Show EFLD area only

EFLD off

EFLD on and show EFLD area only is on

If Show EFLD Area Only is toggled on, it will only plot the FLD result in EFLD area, the other regular
FLD area will be treated as no data and plotted in gray.
The EFLD compensation will be used in EFLD area. For example in the marked area, the crack is
compensated.

EFLD Result Show EFLD area with regular FLD area

EFLD off

EFLD on and show EFLD area only is off

If EFLD is toggled on and the Show EFLD Area Only is toggled off, it will plot the FLD result in EFLD area
and the regular FLD area to make a complete FLD plot.
