A New State-of-the-Art ESF Pin —

The First Major ESF Pin Improvement in 20 Years
Since the release of positive-profile ESF pins 20 years ago, few improvements have been made in
ESF pin technology until now. The next generation of ESF pins is represented by DuraFace™ half-pins,
which demonstrate highly significant increases in stiffness and fatigue life. Most importantly, these
mechanical improvements are accomplished without a resulting pin tract diameter increase in patient
bone, which until now has been the limiting factor in the surgeons ability to select fixation pins of
increased stiffness.

The DuraFace™ fixation half-pin achieves these very significant improvements at the same price of our
current positive-profile half-pins. These huge mechanical improvements are accomplished by starting
with the positive-profile pin geometry, adding shaft diameter, and blending the thread/non-thread
junction with a patent pending tapered thread runout (TRO) feature to minimize any stress riser effect.
