Tutoring Center
The Center for Tutoring & Academic Excellence offers free Small Group Tutoring and Study
Hall tutoring sessions for Loyola students. The small groups meet once a week and are arranged
on the basis of individual student requests. The study halls meet at pre-scheduled times; this is
drop-in tutoring. To learn more or request tutoring services, visit the Center online at
www.luc.edu/tutoring .
Policies:
Academic Honesty
In addition to the Loyola University Chicago Academic Integrity policy outlined at
http://www.luc.edu/academics/catalog/undergrad/reg_academicintegrity.shtml , the following
apply:
1) Students may not use automated translators to write compositions.
2) Students may not ask friends, relatives or native speakers to complete their assignments.
3) Students may not recycle their own or other peoples work.

4) Students must explicitly cite any material that has been taken from the Internet or other
sources.
Please note that any single instance of Academic Dishonesty will, at a minimum, result in a
grade of zero (0) for the assignment or exam in question. A pattern of failure to comply with
these standards will result in a failing grade.
Disabilities
Students with documented disabilities who wish to discuss academic accommodations should
contact me the first week of class, as well as the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities.
Attendance & Participation
Attendance is required for all scheduled class dates. Students are allowed to miss three classes
unexcused. After three unexcused absences, the final grade will be reduced by one letter for each
day of absence (e.g. A to A-). It is the students responsibility to inform the instructor of any
excused absence and to provide proper documentation.
Attention! Private travels, homework for other courses, job commitments, etc. are not
excused absences. Students will not be permitted to take an exam/quiz or to hand in a
homework assignment they missed on a later date unless the absense is excuse.
Participation: To participate actively students should:
a) be prepared for class having read the material and completed the assignments;
b) make (meaningful) contributions to every discussion;
c) be on task during partner or group activities;
d) volunteer answers.
