WANTED: General Manager of Aultsville Theatre

Aultsville Theatre is a non-profit volunteer driven arts organization with a unique mandate: to develop
and support the performing arts across Stormont, Dundas, & Glengarry (SD&G) by providing resources,
networking, and advocacy for both the professional and community sectors.
Aultsville Theatre Board is seeking an energetic and innovative General Manager with a strong
commitment to the health and vitality of our theatre community. Aultsville Theatre's General Manager is
a hands-on manager, providing leadership and direction to staff, and has the vision necessary to lead
the organization into the next phase of its growth.
The ideal candidate is skilled at relationship and community building, revenue development, and is
aware of the artistic and political climate facing theatres. The candidate will be highly motivated, detail
oriented, have the proven ability to manage schedules, and have a professional approach to
challenging event management. This candidate must have superb interpersonal skills and be clientcentric.
Reporting to the Aultsville Theatre Board, the candidate is strong on financial management, has
outstanding written and oral communication skills, and is creative in delivering a range of programs that
serve theatre and its artists across our communities of SD&G. This candidate encourages partnerships
with other arts service organizations in advocating for and on behalf of Theatre, in addressing cultural
and political issues, whenever and wherever possible.
General Accountability:
-Reporting to the volunteer Board of Directors the General Manager is responsible for the
administration, supervision, programming, maintenance, and daily operation of Aultsville Theatre.
-Responsible for coordination of and delivery of various programs/events.
-Responsible for the promotion of the Theatre and its activities including but not limited to;
corporate/commercial sponsorship, advertising, partnerships, etc.
Primary responsibilities:
-Working closely with the volunteer Board to lead Aultsville Theatre's operations.
-Managing Aultsville Theatre's finances including grant applications, regular reporting to funders and
sponsors, and developing and managing the organizations annual budget.

-Overseeing fundraising activities.


-Advocating on behalf of the organization.
-Supporting the implementation and ongoing development of strategic directions for the Theatre in
partnership with the board and staff.
-Planning and managing the day-to-day operations.
-Supervising, developing, and leading the organizations personnel, including annual performance
reviews.
-Identifying opportunities and working partnerships that further goals and objectives of the
organizations strategic objectives.
-Flexibility to travel and attend occasional Board and Committee meetings on evenings and weekends
as required.
-Liaise with Theatre partners.
-Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
-A minimum of 5 years of professional arts administration / management experience in either
professional or community theatre.
-Post-secondary degree or diploma in applicable field (e.g.: Arts/Business Management, Fundraising),
or equivalent work experience in the field.
-Knowledge of and passion for the performing arts community.
-Recognized leadership in the arts community that invites and stimulates partnerships with funders,
sponsors, and colleagues.
-Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience in annual planning, grant-writing, and revenue
generation from a variety of sources including both earned and contributed revenue.
-Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting practices in the charitable sector.
-Strong organizational skills that include managing multiple assignments and workload distribution in
order to meet deadlines.
-Superior command of English in both written and oral communication. French will be considered an
asset.

Remuneration:
Salary commensurate with experience.
