A technician is available on site.

The technician is able to login with Administrators rights.

One of the two APUB board should be in active and working condition.

2.1.2

Data

The following data must be known to complete this procedure:

The user name and password valid for a user with administrative rights on the
node.

The Bios and IPMI FW is available, if upgrade is needed.

The document "APHW Boards and CN-I Information" is needed, if Bios and IPMI
FW upgrade is needed.

2.1.3

Special Aids

Chassis/cabinet - Torx #10.

An APUB replacement board

A grounding strap. To be used when exchanging the equipment.

In case of Bios or IPMI FW upgrade is required you need:

The Bios and/or IPMI FW.

The document "APHW Boards and CN-I Information".

2.2 Actions
Connect to Active APUB board and Login
1. Connect to the active node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
Initiate. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return to Step 2.
2. Was it possible to login?
Yes
Go to Step 3.
No
Go to Step 41.
3. Print the Board slot numbers. Enter command
hwmls
Note:
Check <APUB board Slot number> received in the work order is the one of faulty
board. This info will be used in next steps.

Check BIOS and IPMI FW Version, active board

4. Check the Bios version on active boards.
Use command wmic CSPRODUCT List Status.
5. Check the state of firmware on active board.
Use command ipmi_upg -f.
Note:
Take note of Running IPMI FW state and IPMI FW revision.
Block Faulty Board
6. Check whether the faulty APUB board is existing or not in the slot?
Yes
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to Step 41.
Note:
For the slot number, Refer Step 3.
7. Block the faulty APUB board. Use command
hwmblk -s < slotnumber> -f
Note:
< slotnumber> is the slot no of the faulty board. Refer Step 3.
8. Wait until the MIA LED on the APUB board to be replaced is switched on.
Use command hwmls -s < slotnumber> -l | findstr -I MIA.
Note:
< slotnumber> is the slot no of the faulty board. Refer Step 3.
Disconnect Cables on Faulty Board
9.

Warning!
Be careful when removing the cables. They are easily damaged.
10.
10. Disconnect the ethernet and external alarms cables from the faulty board in the
following order, see APG43 Cable Reference.

Diconnect SAS-0 on the faulty Board

12. Note:
13. It is important that the cables will be reconnected in the same channels (SAS-0
respective SAS-1) where they were removed from.
Replace Faulty APUB Board
12. Replace the faulty board with the replacement board.
Note:
When you have loosened the faulty board from the cabinet a few millimeters,
check that all screws are loose - they have a tendency to still be connected by a
half turn.
Reconnect cables
13. Connect the ethernet and external alarms cables in the following order,
see APG43 Cable Reference:

15. Note:
16. It is important that the cables is connected in the same channels (SAS-0
respective SAS-1) where they were removed from.

On active APUB board, integrate the replaced board

15. Integrate the replaced board. Use command
hwmdeblk -s < slotnumber>
Note:
< slotnumber> is the slot number of the repaired board. Refer Step 3.
Note:
Check power LED is ON and MIA Led is OFF.
16. Disconnect from the active node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
End. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return to Step 17.
Perform Single Node Recovery
17. Go to Operational Instruction AP, System Disaster Recovery(1M) and perform a
single node recovery on the replaced APUB board. Return to Step 18.
Check BIOS and IPMI FW Version, replacing board.
18. Connect to the replaced node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
Initiate. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and then return toStep
19.
Upgrade Bios for APUB boards
19. Print the APUB Boards Product Number and Revision. Enter command
hwmls l
Note:
Make a note of Product Number: and Product Revision State: for both the
APUB Boards. That info are used to check the latest released IPMI and bios.
20. Check the Bios version on replaced boards. Enter command:
wmic CSPRODUCT LIST status
21. Is replaced Board's BIOS version identical to Active board's one, as got at Step 4?
Yes
Go to Step 23.
No
Go to Step 22.
22. Go to "APHW Boards and CN-I Information", APHW CN-Is - section to upgrade
Bios upgrade Bios on active/passive APUB board whichever is lower, contact next
level support to get CNI info and return toStep 23.
Upgrade FW for APUB boards
23. Check the firmware state and revision of the upgraded board. Use command

ipmi_upg -f
Note:
Compare Running IPMI FW state and IPMI FW revision with output of Step 5.
24. Is the IPMI firmware of replaced Board identical to Active's one ?
Yes
Go to Step 40.
No
Go to Step 25.
25. Check watchdog status.
Use command hwmls -l | findstr -i watchdog.
Note:
If printout comes as "Watchdog Status: OFF" then watchdog is in disable state.
Note:
If printout gives "Watchdog Status: <someValue>" then watchdog is in enable
state. Note down the value of watchdog.
26. Disconnect from the replaced node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User
Session, End. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return toStep
27.

Use command hwmset -n own -t <someValue> enable hwmset -n other -t
<someValue> enable.
Note:
Use value of the watchdog as noted in the Step 25.
36. Go to Step 38.
37. Disable the watchdog on both nodes.
Use command hwmset -n own disable hwmset -n other disable.
Note:
It is recommended that watchdog be enabled with a default value of 120.
38. Check the state of firmware on replaced board.
Use command hwmls -s < slotnumber> -l.
