1.

Vaid's Printed Material + 2 of his books might be a supplement to Braintree

2. Singh and Sahay -- but no clue how to get it
3. Liberal use of diagrams is a plus - we will try to collaborate as diagrams given in P Nath , Das
are quite few and we have to rely online
My Strategy
Make a notebook of about 100 pages
divide syllabus of each section in 10 to 12 parts each
note down one topic (may be 5 to 6 lines) then write down all the question asked since 2005
complete this excercise for all topics
My strict advice please dont take xerox do it yourself
Now take one section from each paper which you find intresting and start reading good books and
material (disscussed in detail later) make short notes of each topic . Notes must be concise crisp.
Each topic should be covered in 100 to 150 words. Remember these notes are useful for only for the
person who had made it. So dont ask others for their notes as notes are only pointer to the
information we read in books and materials.
MATERIALS
take Brain tree(BT) and Vaid sir (VS) material we are not suppose to go through entire material so
dont worry they r for ready refrence
PHSICAL ANTHRO
P Nath - some topics are real crap avoid them - must buy
Das - few topics r realy good - desirable
VS notes by n large better than BT for this section
So for every topic in this section first go through P Nath and VS thoroughly. VS is full of factual
info then give a glance to Das If u find something substancial then add it. Now make notes and mug
it up. If a question is coming then idealy one should recall entire 100 words of thenotes but even if u
can recollect 60% then also wewill get 50% marks
FOSSIL EVIDENCE
S Das
Xerox of one booklet (40 - 50 pages) in VS - must - summary of each fossil with evolution tree and
proper easily reproducable digrams are given. Here no need to make seprate notes for most of topics
just enrich this booklet with information you get from other sources
THEORIES
VISIT http://anthropology.ua.edu/cultures/cultures.php
and if you can arrange class notes of vaid sir class where an Oriya teacher from Lucknow university
teach this section
Better if you take one theory at a time make notes from both of above sources and memorise them
on same day
It will take2 hours daily for ten days and believe me you wont require anything else
Remaining portion I will write in next section after one week as I have to leave early morning

tomorrow for my home town

Hope that by then you will atleast do the first part of syllabus n questions
Part 2
Socio cultural anthropology :
Introduction to sociocultural anthropology by Dr N K Vaid
recently revised, Palka publications
Book is good (I ve read old one) whatever topics are covered are very good. Old book is like notes.
No need for making separate notes.
BT notes are good and ons foe topics not covered in the book.
Some topics are good in ember n ember (eg segmental lineage, chart for band vs tribes vs.... ) If we
have time then for this section EnE can be referred. I didn't find EnE imp for any other section.
INDIAN ANTHROPOLOGY
Books: Singh n Sahay must
Nadeem Hasnani equally important.
usually no need to refer notes for this section.
For topics like ST SC OBC their backwardness and welfare newspapers are imp and 12th FYP
relevant chapter is must.
ARCHEOLOGY :
usually book mentioned in above section covers this section also
but book by Bhattacharya can be referred.
Archeology and Theories are the core of Anthropology and I personally believe (no insider info )
that if attempted questions of this section fetch more marks and creates good impression.
Here we must make notes of sites, Indian archaeologist associated with them.
TRIBALS:
Guys this is my weak area
I will be working on this area this year.
For basics we must know the various tribes of various regions, their special traditions, diseases
prevalent in them, their socio economic status, problems of tribes in general with latest concrete
data. Any new policy affecting or for tribes must be thoroughly prepared.
Here I think net is more important than any book or notes
