Who is at Risk?
Your grandmother, your mother, your aunt,
your sister, your daughter, your cousin, your
friend, your coworker and YOURSELF.
Help to educate women about the importance
of early breast cancer detection, diagnosis and
treatment. Annual mammography screenings can
detect breast cancer early and are the best chance
women have for beating this deadly disease.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women
and falls only second to lung cancer as a leading
cause of cancer death. Encourage every woman
you know to schedule a mammography screening
for herself today. It could save her life.

My Reality

any of us know
that
certain
genetic
factors
can
predict breast cancer.
The BRCA1 and BRCA2
gene mutations are the
most common inherited
causes of the disease.
Woman
who
have
inherited this face a
much higher risk of
developing breast cancer
and ovarian cancer.
The testing for this is
offered only to those
who are likely to have
inherited the mutation
based off of personal
or
family
history.
After having a lengthy
family history of breast
cancer, I opted to have
the testing done in
October 2010. I was
asked several times,
why would you want
to know if you are going
to get breast cancer?
The truth is, I wanted
to face it head on and
