Applying to TAMK's English degree programmes is possible only once in a year. Application period is
always in January, and the studies begin in August.
There is a single application form for studies conducted in English, Finnish and Swedish as well as
studies organized as daytime and evening or part-time studies.
In the new joint application of Finnish universities and UASs, you can choose a maximum of six study
options in order of preference. Please notice that the order of preference of your study options is
binding and it cannot be changed after the application period has ended. You can be admitted as
student to only one of your study options. The joint application system will offer you a study place in
the study option which is highest on your list of preferences and in which you have received enough
admission points to be selected.
The national joint application of spring 2015 will be 7 - 27 January 2015 3.00 pm Finnish time. The
electronic application form will be at www.studyinfo.f(website yet to be published).
The results of the student selection are published on 1 July 2015. Applicants must confrm their study
place by 15th July 2015 3.00 pm Finnish time at the latest.
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY FOR THE ENGLISH DEGREE PROGRAMMES IS GIVEN BY:

Finnish upper secondary education or Finnish matriculation examination

International Baccalaureate, Reifeprfung or European Baccalaureate examination

vocational college diploma or higher vocational diploma (e.g. in engineering)

vocational qualifcation of at least three years' duration, completed in vocational upper


secondary education and training, referred to in the Vocational Education and Training Act
(630/98), or earlier corresponding qualifcation

combined education programmes of at least three years' duration, referred to in the Act on
Youth-level Education and the Polytechnic Experiment (391/91)

vocational qualifcation in adult education of at least three years' duration, referred to in the
Vocational Adult Education Act (631/98)

foreign degree or qualifcation which gives eligibility for higher education in the awarding
country. See the admission requirements for each country.

Those applicants who are applying with Finnish competence-based specialist vocational qualifcation or
competence-based further vocational qualifcation (ammatti-/erikoisammattitutkinto) or with nonFinnish qualifcation, must havecompleted their studies by the end of the application period.
Applicants with Finnish competence-based specialist vocational qualifcation or competencebased further vocational qualifcation (ammatti-/erikoisammattitutkinto) must provide copy of the
original certificate to the admissions office of frst-choice UAS by the end of the application period.
If applicant who is applying with non-Finnish qualifcation is an EU/EEA-citizen, she/he can apply if the
qualifcation will be completed by 17 July 2015. If such applicant is admitted to Finnish UAS, the
offered study place is conditional until the UAS has checked the fnal certifcate.

In order to demonstrate their eligibility to apply to Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences, applicants
who are applying with non-Finnish qualification, must provide required attachments to the
admissions office of first-choice UAS by 10 February 2015 3.00 pm Finnish time at the latest.
The required attachments are:

copy of the original secondary school certifcate

copy of official Finnish, Swedish or English translation of the certifcate (if the certifcate is not
written in one of these languages). Translation must have authorised translator's signature and
stamp

proof of applicant's English language skills

Universities of Applied Sciences accept only final certificates awarded by national and regional
bodies who have the right to grant educational certificates. Various other documents such as
"Testimonials", "Statements of Results", "Examination Results" or "Result Slips" are not considered as
official certifcates and as such, those will not be accepted. Note that if you have scratch card, it is
advisable to attach the card to your certifcate.
The attachments must be sent by post. Scanned or faxed copies are not accepted. After the frstchoice UAS has received the required documents, the UAS will decide on the applicants eligibility
for all application options.
If the applicant is a refugee or in refugee-like situation and the qualifcations cannot be proven through
documentary evidence, the UAS can consider whether the applicant can be invited to the entrance
exam even if the UAS does not use discretionary admission. The applicant must prove the refugee
status by reference to a decision made by competent authority.
