Admission Criteria
Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences decide on their student admission criteria based on the
national Recommendation on Student Admission Criteria given by the Rectors Conference of
Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences (Ammattikorkeakoulujen rehtorineuvosto, ARENE).
The national Recommendation for Admissions Criteria 2015 (link) pages 1-15 and 56-65 apply to the
degree programme in question with the following exceptions and/or specifications:

General eligibility requirements.

No discretionary admission.

The degree programme has its own entrance examination (no entrance examination
cooperation).

The degree programme has its own minimum and maximum scores for the entrance
examination.

Student selections are made on the basis of entrance examination results only (points
awarded for school performance are not considered).

Application
Application to Metropolia's Bachelor's Degree programmes can be submitted online through a
national system of joint application at Studyinfo.fi during 7 - 27 January 2015 at 3 pm Finnish time

In addition, when accepting the study place all admitted applicants are required to deliver a copies of
the relevat certificates to be checked. The qualification used in the application procedure must be
completed such that the copy of the certificate will arrive at the relevant university of applied
sciences by 17 July 2015 at 3 pm Finnish time (GMT +2).

Sending the Documents

Required documents must be delivered to the Admission Services (link) via e-mail, by post,
in person or by proxy so that they are received by the deadline.

Photocopies are enough, certificate copies do not need to be verified.

Only final certificates awarded by national and regional bodies granting educational
certificates will be accepted; temporary ones (e.g. transcripts, statements of results, scratch
cards or provisional/temporary certificates etc.) will be disregarded.

It is not possible to apply on the basis of a higher education qualification (e.g. Bachelor's
degree) but applicants must use a lower qualification such as upper secondary school
certificate.

Possible delays in postal delivery or problems in getting the required certificates in time do
not take away the sender's responsibility of delivering all the required certificates so that they
are received by the Admission Services by the deadline.

Certificate copies will not be returned.


If an applicant is a refugee or in a refugee-like situation and is unable to submit
documentary evidence of his or her qualification, a university of applied sciences may invite the
applicant to take an entrance examination even if the UAS is not using discretionary admission.
In such cases, the applicant must have an official decision attesting to his or her refugee status
(a decision on asylum or a residence permit granted on the basis of a need for protection).
However, this does not take away the English language qualification requirement.

Entrance Examination
All applicants who have been found eligible to apply will be invited to the entrance examination. The
entrance examination is compulsory for all applicants and other entrance examinations will not be
considered.

Applicants should note that it is not possible to change the exam venue or time and that Metropolia
is not responsible if an applicant is unable to participate in the examination.

Student Selection
Metropolia's student selection will be made on the basis of the entrance examination results only. All
parts of the entrance examination must be completed in an acceptable level in order to get admitted.
Student selection results will be published by 1 July 2015 at the latest and the applicant must
confirm the study place by 15 July 2015 at 3 pm Finnish time.

Admission is conditional until the Admission Services has checked all the relevant certificates.
