Important dates

7 January - 27 January 2015: Apply online at studyinfo.fi .


The online application form to Bachelor degree programmes offered in English is available
only during the application period and until 3 pm Finnish time on the last application day.
10 February 2015: Deadline for copies of required documents.
Scanned or faxed documents are not accepted. The documents have to be at the
admissions office of your first choice UAS by 10 February 2015 at 3 pm Finnish time.
Postal stamp date not considered.
April - May 2015: Entrance exams
1 July 2015: Final results of student selection announced
15 July 2015: Deadline for acceptance of study place offer
August 2015: Studies begin

The national entrance examination for the the spring joint application period in Degree Programme
in International Business will be organised on Wednesday, 22 April 2015, and for the autumn joint
application period on Wednesday, 4 November 2015. The entrance examination consists of the
following sections (min./max. scores): an essay (3/10 pts.), multiple-choice questions (2/6 pts.), a
section measuring mathematical/logical thinking (3/8 pts.) and an interview (4/16 pts.). The
examination includes a compulsory section measuring English language proficiency. Applicants must

complete all sections to an acceptable standard. More details will be available on the Opintopolku.fi
(Studyinfo) web portal. The Degree Programmes in International Business are involved in
admissions co-operation.
------The qualification used in the application procedure must be completed such that the copy of the
certificate will arrive at the relevant university of applied sciences no later than 3 pm on 17 July for
the spring application period and no later than 3 pm on 18 December for the autumn
application period. This also applies to any qualifications completed by EU/EEA citizens as well as
to international matriculation

Discretionary admission
To be eligible for admission, you must meet all the admission requirements. Your first choice UAS
will make the decision on your eligibility and this information will be passed to the other preferences
as well.
However, if you will graduate from a higher secondary education during the spring of applying, you
may still apply to Kymenlaakso UAS via discretionary admission. Applicants may be admitted to
study if Kymenlaakso UAS considers their skills and knowledge sufficient. Applicants who do not
have the required educational background may be invited to the entrance examination.
Please note: in 2015 application period applicants who are non EU/EEA citizens must deliver
a valid language certificate by 10 February 2015 in order to be invited to the entrance
examination! This applies also to applicants applying via discretionary admission.

If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen and applying with a non-Finnish qualification and you will
receive your graduation certificate by 17 July 2015 and/or

If you are a non-EU/EEA or an EU/EEA citizen and you will receive your graduation
certificate after 10 February 2015 and/or

If you do not have an eligible higher secondary education

Application procedure and required attachments for discretionary


admission

Apply online at www.studyinfo.fi during the application period 7 January - 27 January


2015.

Print out the online application and attach a copy of it to your documents.

Fill in the Application Form for Discretionary Admission, print it, sign it and send it together
with your certificates to the Admissions Office. The application form and the certificates for
discretionary admission must reach Kymenlaakso UAS by 10 February 2015.

The documents must be delivered by post to Kymenlaakso UAS, scanned or faxed copies will not
be accepted. Documents delivered after the deadline will not be considered and applicant will be
excluded from the discretionary admission. Please remember to sign the Application Form for
Discretionary Admission as it is not valid without the original signature of the applicant.
Each UAS makes an independent decision of the applicant's eligibility in discretionary admission.
Check from the individual UAS it's requirements for applying via discretionary admission.

New Joint Application System for higher education


The application system to Finnish higher education has been revised. From autumn 2014 onwards,
you can apply to both universities and universities of applied sciences / polytechnics with the same
online joint application form. Please find more information at www.studyinfo.fi.

No tuition fees in the degree studies


There are no tuition fees in the degree studies because the higher education degrees are funded by
the state through the Ministry of Education.

About application to Bachelors degree programmes

Arcada offers three Bachelors degree programmes in English. The application and
admission information can be found at the page apply to Bachelors degrees in English.

Application period for the academic year 2015 - 2016 is 7 January - 27 January 2015 at the

Applying to programmes conducted in English at polytechnics/UAS takes place through a system of joint application.
Prospective students can apply to four different degree programmes at polytechnics/UAS using the same application
form. The application form can be submitted online or sent by post to the admissions office of the applicant's first
choice polytechnic/UAS

HOW TO APPLY?
Studies starting in August 2015
The Finnish National Board of Education has just recently opened a new site
for joint applications in Finnish higher education: www.studyinfo.f. The main
joint application period for UAS Bachelor's studies starting in autumn 2015
will be in 7 - 27 January 2015 at www.studyinfo.f. The www.studyinfo.f site
replaces the www.admissions.f site which was used earlier for UAS
Bachelors admission.

Studies starting in August 2014


Apply online at www.admissions.fi during 7 January 11 February
2014. Application must be submitted before the end of the application
period, 11 February 2014 at 4:15 pm Finnish time.
In Finland applications for the programmes are submitted through the joint
application system. The applicant may choose at most four options. The
application form must be submitted by the end of the application period. The
admission is conditional until the University of Applied Sciences (UAS) has
checked the applicants school and other relevant certifcates.
The online application service instructs you how to fll in the application form. It is
important to follow all the instructions carefully.
If Karelia University of Applied Sciences is your frst choice of universities of applied
sciences, send copies of all required certifcates to the Admissions Office, Karelia
University of Applied Sciences, Tikkarinne 9, 80200 Joensuu, Finland by 21
February 2014 at 4:15 pm Finnish time. Send copies by post; scanned or faxed
copies will not be accepted.
The online application service gives you an applicant code. Please write down the
code to the copies. This will help the admissions office to process your attachments.

The admission is conditional until Karelia UAS has checked the applicants school
and other relevant certifcates. Karelia UAS may withdraw the admission if you have
given false information or have presented a forged document.
