Installation Conditions

The PCM30U-OCH device consists of an aluminium rack with a motherboard, central section modules,
channel modules, cover panels for slots where modules without front panels are installed and back covers.
Connectors to connect external power supply and external cabling and/or complete cabling are supplied as
accessories, depending on the project.
The device is supplied with all modules installed as specified in project requirements, that is with central
modules, channel modules, panels and back covers.
The installation process comprises the following:

Mounting of the device into a pre-installed holder, stand, or rack.

Connection of external power supply with required fusing.

Installation and connection to external voltage converter, if required.

Connection of external cabling to the electronic interface.

Installation of external data interfaces and connection of data module outputs, if

applicable.

Connection of optical interfaces, if applicable.

Installation of the device is completed by metering of the external cabling from the device to the closest
branching device (distribution strip, optical switchboard, etc.)

Environmental Requirements

K.1.3.1.

Climatic Conditions

The device is designed for stationary indoor use in dust-free rooms with fire-resistant stricture, free of
chemical vapours, with controlled climatic conditions and fire-resistant or flameproof floor.
In accordance with OEG 38 3020 standard "Automated Systems of Dispatcher Management of Electricity
and Warm Distribution Networks" and IEC 57, the equipment meets the requirements of environmental class
B4:
Operating Temperature
5C to 55C
Max. Rate of Temperature Change 20C/hr.
Rel. Air Humidity
5 to 95 %
Dust content
28 g/m3

K.1.4.

Requirements on Power Supply Voltage

Power Consumption
The consumption differs in dependence on the plug-in unit composition in the PCM30U-OCH subrack. If
the subrack is fitted with CJAB, NP107, 3x PBS, RO3 units and all the command relays are powered and
both LF RO3 channels are driven the consumption is max. 20W. If RO3 unit is not used and command
relays are not powered then the power consumption is 10.8 W. Eight command relays drain approx. + 2 W
and both LF channels of RO3 approx. + 7 W.

Tolerance
Nominal power supply voltage is 48 or 60 VDC -15% +20%. Considering tolerances, the power supply
voltage may vary between 40 and 72 VDC. Even short-term surpassing the upper limit results in a
destructive reaction of input protection circuits. Service intervention is required then. Redundant power
supply units that demonstrate a short-term overshoot bigger than 72 V when switched to battery-powered
mode cannot be used for PCM30U-OCH supplying.

Circuit Protection
Supply line 48 VDC or 60 VDC is protected by a 4 ADC circuit breaker. In the block input a fuse is used
rated 3.15A / F (flink). An over voltage accumulation circuit with a limited temperature capacity is located
behind this fuse, followed by an input of plug-in unit NP107.

Maintenance
During warranty period the equipment is maintained by personnel trained for PCM30U-OCH attendance
and maintenance and having obtained a service licence valid for the appropriate time period. After-warranty
attendance and maintenance can be performed by trained technicians at customer's discretion (training by
TTC / TTC MARCONI personnel is recommended).

K.1.5.

Typical Installation Options:

Fixed or turning wall-mounted (vertical walls only) braced frame: suitable for
locations without unauthorized access, does not prevent manipulation/access to the
device. Does not take up any floor space.

Installation between two vertical beams: when a room contains 19" or 21"
spaced vertical beams capable of supporting the PCM30U weight/load, they may be
used.

Rack-mounted: The best installation solution is an installation rack with a 19" or

21" width and at least 450 mm deep, enabling access to the back - necessary to connect
external cabling.

Power Supply and Grounding Connectors

K.2.1.1. Power supply from a DC 48 V Source

Supply voltage is connected to the car connectors located at the B side of the motherboard at the back
(marked + UB and - UB).Inputs are for two modules NP107.
Input fusing uses a 3.15 A blow-out fuse. The fuses are located on the modules NP107. The central switchis
are located on the NP107 units.
Central switches
Power ON-OFF

Fig. 3 - Central switches

The input nominal power supply voltage must be a separately fused circuit.
Input cable cross-section is 2 x 1 mm, CYSY or CYKY.
Power supply cables are terminated in 6.3 x 0.8 flat car connector rings.

K.2.1.2. Power Supply from other Sources

When using AC 230 V or DC 110 to 220 V power source, an external voltage converter to DC 48 V
(type 40W) must be installed.
The optional NAN40 voltage converter works for input voltage of AC 90 to 246 V and DC 90 to 370 V. It is
DIN rack-mountable.

Grounding

PCM30U-OCH is a class 1 device and must therefore be connected to a protective grounding system! The
ZS grounding clamp is provided at the back of the device and accessible after removing the back cover. The
bolt clamp with seven connection contacts is connected to the device rack, motherboard and vertical beam
used as external cabling holder. The remaining four connection contacts may be used to connect external
grounding. A conductor with 4 mm cross-section is connected to the grounding clamp.
The plug-In modules are not grounded separately.

Error outputs are asserted simultaneously with red LED ERROR at front panel of unit, i.e. they indicates
urgent error of module. Both ERR1 and ERR2 has the same function under normal condition. When group B
of commands is used, ERR1 indicates urgent alarm of A group and ERR2 indicates urgent alarm of B group.
Error state is equal to power-off state.

In cases where in one substation more PCM30 equipments require GPS time, every PCM30 must be
connected to RGP. For parallel connection can be used Q-BUS module, developed for multiplication of Q
management channel. For time only first four ports of Q-BUS can be used. 5th must not be used.
Because of RGP is fed through cable and voltage source can not be connected in parallel, different cables
must be used to ensure that RGP is fed only from one rack (the one with Q-BUS module is recommended)

Connection of the RJ1 module to the M Interface

The RJ1 module may be connected to the M interface using the RB
module or by inserting the RJ1 module to position KJ17 in a 3UST frame,
or position KJ15 in a 6OCH frame.
RB module with a RJ1 board:
Plug (Male) D-SUB 09 to connect to the M interface:
- using a 427K901 cable with desired length. The cable connects the
RJ1 control module to the CJAB module (RJ45 connector marked M)
The cable also transmit synchronisation frequency to synchronise
data transfer and +5V supply voltage to the RJ1 module.
When the RJ1 control module is installed directly into the 6OCH or
3UST frame, interconnection of the M interface is done over the
motherboard and no cable is necessary.

K.8.4.

Interconnection of M Interfaces between Racks

K.8.4.1. Interconnection of Blocks Communicating over 2Mbit Data Stream

When the PCM30U blocks assigned to the given RJ1 control module are connected via E1, that is a
2Mbit stream, connection of the M interface is part of the data stream and does not require any hardware.

K.8.4.2. Interconnection of Blocks NOT Communicating over 2Mbit Data Stream

When connection between PCM30U controlled by one RJ1 module is not continuous as far as 2Mbit
stream is concerned (for example several end to end relations from one location) the M interface data must
be interconnected using wires. This connection uses a twin cable with a maximum length of 20m. It is
necessary to keep the wire polarity. Connectors used for interconnecting different PCM30U devices are
