ANALYSIS:

1.Are there regions between permanent

magnets where the magnetic field lines
intersect? Explain.
No intersection, no regions between
permanent magnets where in field lines will
never intersect since magnetic force has its
own distinctive direction that makes it
tangent to the field lines. These magnetic
field lines flow from north pole to south pole
and repel or attract depends on the position
of poles. Having an intersection which means
a common point, two or more directions and
two values which are impossible.
2.Describe the magnetic field (if any) inside the
iron ring. Explain your observation.
Any form of pattern or magnetic field lines
has formed inside the iron ring because of
the absence of magnetization in the hollow
part. Since the permeability of the iron is
greater than permeability of the air, therefore
the iron ring serves as an insulator to the
formation of magnetic field inside.

3.Did you get all the expected results? Which

part (if any) did not agree with theory?
Explain.
The obtain results were adequate and
settles with the theory. In the first
experiment, magnetic field lines attract or
repel depends on the polarity and there were
no field lines intersect which means
conformation of the principle. On the other
hand, second part of the experiment, the
data gathered agrees with the theory
magnetic force is directly proportional with
its factors . Moreover, there are no
disagreement in any part of the experiment
with the theory.
4.What is the main source of error in E401 and
what can be done to eliminate or minimize the
error due to it?
Possible error is the calibration of the
instruments especially to the unstable
measurement digital weighing machine. In
minute amount of grams leads to wrong
data. The sensitivity of the knob in the

current balance and current balance

accessory unit may cause some errors as
well. A little bit twist to the degree
indicator changes its value.

CONCLUSION:
1.Give three characteristics of magnetic field.
Magnetic field lines is infinite or has no
ends and continuously envelop a permanent
magnets. The magnetic fields attraction or
repulsion strength depends on how close the
distance between two magnets. The closer it
is, the stronger the strength of attraction or
repulsion while the farther the lesser its
strength. Magnetic field lines flows from
south pole to north pole in a material while
the movement of the field lines would be
from north pole to south pole in air.

2.What does the digital balance reading

represent? What does the number of

magnets represent? What is the relationship

between the two?
The digital balance represent the total
magnetic force in the current-carrying
conductor plus the weight of the magnet in
grams. The number of magnets represents the
strength of the magnetic field as the strength
increases the force increases as well regardless
of its mass. The magnetic force magnitude is
directly proportional to magnetic field
magnitude which means more magnets the
stronger the magnetic field is.
3.What orientation of the conductor relative to
the magnetic field gives minimum and
maximum magnetic force respectively?
To attain the minimum force, the degree
must be 0 or 180 or simply the conductor
must be parallel with the magnetic field.
Orienting the conductor to 90 degrees or
perpendicular to the magnetic field will give
a maximum result since, sin(n /2)=1 when
n is an odd integer and sin( /2)= 0 when n

0.

4.What is the relationship between magnetic

force and the angle between conductor and
magnetic field?
The connection between Magnetic force
and the angle between the conductor and
magnetic field () is the proportionality. As
the angle between the current and the
magnetic field increases from 0 to 90
degrees, minimum to maximum, increasing
magnitude of the magnetic force would be
the result if keeping the other factors
constant.
