Social media gets a New Jersey cop fired
On Wednesday, a veteran police lieutenant of the city of Newark was fired for
disapproving the citys African American mayor, Ras Baraka. This all happened in a
Facebook exchange during the summer, department spokesman Sgt. Ron Glover said
Thursday. The department launched an investigation in late July after a member of the
public sent police officials a screenshot of a Facebook conversation between police
veteran Caruso and a retired officer. The retired officer posted a photo on Facebook of a
gorilla captioned LmfaoHows your mayor? Caruso replied with Exactly!!!
Police Director Eugene Venable said in a statement, As we continue to improve our
community relations and to develop police legitimacy, we will not condone the type of
behavior that Lt. Anthony Caruso displayed while referring to a member of our city
administration as a gorilla.
23-year-old Caruso leaves behind a $133,528 annual salary, according to state records.

Dozens ready for NJ medical marijuana dispensary
Dispensary employees were weighing and stuffing four strains of cannabis in air-tight
bags Thursday in anticipation of the 40 patients scheduled to make the first purchases on
opening day for the center. The Compassionate Sciences Alternative Treatment Center
will open Monday. So far, 100 patients have signed up at the Compassionate Sciences
Center in Camden County as their dispensary and the Compassionate Sciences Center is
prepared to serve 1,800 patients purchasing an ounce, and as many as 4,000 when all 12
strains are available. The opening of the center will also introduce a medical marijuana
competitor to the south Jersey market. Appointments are required for the first week of
operation, said dispensary manager Gretchen McCarthy.

Bill Cosby faces yet another allegation of sexually inappropriate behavior

Three other women accused Bill Cosby of sexually inappropriate behavior, which adds
more allegations to the previous ones. One woman was a cocktail server at a jazz club in
Redondo Beach, California, in the 1970s. She accused Cosby of stealing her panties after
drugging her and assaulting her in a car while she was unconscious. The other woman
was a former model and actress who appeared as an extra on The Cosby Show. She
said Cosby told her shed better sleep with him if she wants to see success in the
entertainment industry. After years of silence, the women said, allegations against Cosby
from other women made them decide to come forward. More than 40 women have
publicly accused Cosby of sexual misconduct over the past 40 years.

In Chicago, a family was gunned down after returning home from a family outing
Monday night. The shooting wounded an infant and killed the childs mother and
grandmother. The infants mother was reportedly pregnant. The mother was believed to
be the age of 23, and the grandmother 46. The 11-month-old infant was rushed to the
hospital by the cops and is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. Chicago
is known for its highest murder rates and now is racking up another annual murder count
thats far above the nations other biggest cities. In 2012, Chicago was described as the
murder capital of the United States because the city registered more homicides than
any other city, with 503 murders. No arrests have been made, but police believe gang
rivalry is behind the shooting.

Typhoon Dujuan killed at least two people and injured more than 300 before making
landfall in China. The storm made landfall late Monday on Taiwans east coast. The
storm hit the town of Suao with gusts as strong as 246 kph (153 mph). Dujuan also
brought 20 inches of rain on the mountains of northeastern Taiwan, raising concerns of
flooding or landslides. The storm prompted the suspension of many public transportation
services, cancelled and delayed dozens of flights, and evacuated roughly 5,000 people
living in mountainous areas, before the storm arrived, by the military. This storm comes a
month later after Typhoon Soudelor, which also killed seven people and at least 26 people
in Mainland China, hit Taiwan.

A massive Sinkhole opened up in the UK and trapped many residents. The sinkhole
opened up in an St Albans cul-de-sac, forcing the evacuation of nearby houses. Gas and
electricity supplies have been isolated since it opened up and has affected the gardens of
three properties in Fontmell Close. The sinkhole grew rapidly overnight and by 1:30am in
the morning, had opened up substantially. In August, a 40ft-deep hole in Manchesters
Mancunian Way opened up and had shut down a major route around the city Centre.
