A Student Loan Plan For the People

Americans today share the same goal that we have since higher education came
into existence. With higher quality education comes a higher quality of society, with
the workforce strengthened by knowledgeable, skilled workers. We continue to
advance in all aspects of life (i.e. technology, medicine, communication etc.) due
to the higher education being offered. That being said, people should have the
opportunity for higher education despite their current financial status.
Negative Aspects of Student Loan Repayment
In todays society, there are quite a few complaints about the repayment of student
loans.
1. People are generally dissatisfied with the debt collectors services.
Frequently, borrowers claim that the collectors are doing things improperly.
2. On top of this, people often find trouble with the customer service provided
by debt collectors. They can be rude, inconsiderate, and difficult to
communicate with.
3. Most Americans, myself included, have busy workloads which allow for
limited free-time. The inconvenience of IBR paperwork during that free-time,
especially when it is prone to errors and recalculation, is unsettling.
4. Another common complaint is about the frequency with which payments are
lost.
How Obamas Plan is Addressing Complaints

to assuage these issues.
1. Firstly, the implementation of a State-of-the-Art Complaint and Feedback
System will allow borrowers to report problems which will then be shared
among other agencies. Those filing the complaints will have the opportunity

to follow it through and the agencies themselves will have to annually report
ways in which the complaints will be addressed.
2. The president also included a request that agencies research better ways to
communicate with buyers. This could eliminate the issue of ineffective
communication as well as rudeness.
3. The system of automatic IBR re-certification addresses the issue of time
consuming paperwork. It also eliminates the problem of forgetting to recertify
in time, and the consequent fees.
4. The payments being lost, whether honestly or honestly, will no longer be a
concern with the implementation of this plan. Debt collectors will be tracked
more closely to ensure both honesty and quality service.
While the plan fails to address future borrowers and private loans, it works toward
addressing the concerns of many Americans. This plan is a step in the right direction
towards making higher education costs less of a burden, and bettering our
workforce as a result.
