POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is actively involved with our York Region Preschool Speech and Language
Program providing a coordinated community based speech and language service for
children, birth to school entry.
Main responsibilities will include:
Contacting families for scheduling appointments
Organizing caseload for Speech Language Pathologists and Communicative

Disorders Assistant
Entering visit statistics and outcome measure data into a Ministry database
Ordering supplies, and maintaining filing systems
General office and clerical duties
Typing and distributing general correspondence
Preparing for weekly team meetings, recording and distributing minutes
Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will be working 4 days a week at the Markham Early
Intervention Services office 9275 Markham Road, Unit 15. Please note schedule and
location may change due to operational needs.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous reception/clerical experience in a healthcare setting


Experience and knowledge of child development programs and/or experience in an
outpatient medical clinic setting
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the team
Strong computer skills in MS Word (Excel experience is preferred) and excellent
typing skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and
work independently
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain
these same standards
Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others
(staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in
compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best
practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
