GENDER OF NOUNS
I. Instructional Objectives:
1. Define Gender.
2. Identify the types of gender of nouns.
3. Explain each of the type of gender of nouns.
4. Give examples each of the type of gender of nouns.
5. Answer the given activities for assessment.
II. Expected Deliverables:
The students are expected to define, identify, explain and give examples of
gender of nouns.
III. Materials: Visual Aids, PowerPoint Presentation, Video Clip, White board and
Marker,

Preliminaries:
(Prayer, Checking the Attendance and Classroom Management)
Lesson Proper:
Gender
-is one of the categories (masculine, feminine, common and neuter) into
which words (such as nouns, adjectives and pronouns) are divided in many
languages.
Types of Gender of Noun
1. Masculine gender- A noun is said to be masculine gender if it refers to a
male character or member of a species.
Examples:
a. A boy is playing in the play-ground.
b. Hero of the movie is not a native of this country.

2. Feminine gender- It actually refers to a female member of a species, woman,
lioness, girl, mare, empress, cow and actress are few of the feminine gender that
we used.
Examples:
a. A girl is playing in the play-ground.
b. The pretty woman was in loved.
c. 3. Common gender- It refers to a member of a species which can be a
male or a female. Child, student, friend, applicant, candidate, member,
leader and servant are few of the common-gender nouns.
Examples:
a. A child is playing on the play-ground.
b. The applicant was hired.
4. Neuter gender- It refers to a member or referring to objects are in neuter
nouns. Chair, paper, pencil, computer, tree, star, mountain, book, car and school
are few of the neuter nouns which we use regularly.
Examples:
a. Computer has brought about drastic changes in our lives
b. Stars are not visible in the day time.

Direction: Identify the following words whether a masculine, feminine, common
and neuter in a piece of paper.

Grade 7 Class
Gender is one of the categories of nouns which consist of types such as
masculine, feminine, common and neuter. These gender types of noun help
categorized nouns in giving emphasis and characteristics of persons and objects.
Hence, types of nouns rather gender of nouns gives significance on the
categorization of nouns.

Research on web the common noun and proper noun and give 5

examples each. Write it in a piece of paper.
