References to Additional Documentation

If you are familiar with the basic principle of the fault clearance you can start with
fault clearance at once. Otherwise we advise that you read the appropriate register
in Documentation Overview in order to be able to use the manual effectively for fault
clearance purposes. The Documentation Overview contains detailed information on
all general aspects of fault clearance.

When replacing or handling modules please observe the Safety Instructions for personal and products (EN60950/IEC60950).

A description of LTG hardware and associated firmware, structure and function can
be found in following information:
Line/Trunk Group (LTG)

Safeguarding
The LTG safeguarding functions consist of:

1.2.1

Routine test

constant self-supervision

traffic-dependent self-supervision

Routine Test
Routine LTG testing, in which central and decentral LTG modules are tested, is performed approximately every 2 to 3 minutes. The test sequence is as follows:
Test
Abbreviation

Test

LTG diagnostics

The LTG must be put into operation to execute the LTG diagnostic. The LTG is con-figured to ACT with the command DIAG LTG first of all, and SEZ (seized by diagnostic) is
entered as the operating state.
When an LTG goes into service, in many cases the code is not destroyed, or only partly
so. It is therefore sufficient to load the destroyed code. The summation check is used to
test that the code is correct. This configuration procedure is called conditional loading.
If the LTG was reset in the course of fault clearance it has to be reloaded because resetting formatted the memory.
This loading procedure can lead to different times for the LTG diagnostic

1.3.2

Diagnostic Results and Rejection of Diagnosis

Diagnostic results:
NO FAULT DETECTED
Diagnosis has been completed correctly. No faults were detected.

FAULTS DETECTED
Diagnosis has been completed correctly. At least one fault was detected. The type of
fault is indicated in the diagnostic progress message.
NO FAULT DETECTED - ONLY CR IN MBL TESTED
Diagnosis of the code receivers did not detect any faults. (Only CRs in MBL were tested.)
FAULTS DETECTED - ONLY CR IN MBL TESTED
Diagnosis of the code receivers detected at least one fault. (Only CRs in MBL were tested).
Rejection of diagnosis:
INTERNAL CONFLICT - TRY LATER
Lack of resources (e.g. no timer), configuration or program start unsuccessful. Repeat
job later.
DEPENDING JOB EXISTING - TRY LATER
A dependent job has already been started. Wait until this job is completed, then repeat
the command.
MISSING RESPONSE FROM DEVICE
No response from the LTG. The watchdog timer for diagnosis in the CP has expired.
DIAGNOSTIC ALREADY STARTED
Diagnoses of intermediate-level units are not allowed to run in parallel. Repeat the job
later.
ILLEGAL DEVICE OPERATING STATUS
The device is not in the correct operating state for diagnosis.
ILLEGAL LTG OPERATING STATUS
The LTG is not in the correct operating state for diagnosis.
ILLEGAL DIU OPERATING STATUS
The DIU is not in the correct operating state for diagnosis.
ILLEGAL CR OPERATING STATUS
The CR is not in the correct operating state for diagnosis.
REJECTED BY DEVICE
Diagnosis has already been started.
LTG-RECOVERY LEVEL 2.1
A level 2.1 LTG recovery occurred during diagnosis.
LTG-RECOVERY LEVEL 2.2

Information on module replacement

The basic functions of four LTGs are combined on module GPPx or GPSx. For
module replacement, all four LTGs of the module have to be configured to MBL

Information block

Faulty LTGs can only be analysed when the SN units via which it runs are in

course of this fault clearance, they must be configured back to STB immediately.
for an SNMUX using:

Information on module replacement

The basic functions of four LTGs are combined on module GPPx or GPSx. For
module replacement, all four LTGs of the module have to be configured to MBL
(except for LTGs in operating state PLA)

Information block

Faulty LTGs can only be analysed when the SN units via which it runs are in
ACT or STB. If SN units are configured to UNA due to LTG configurations in the
course of this fault clearance, they must be configured back to STB immediately.
for an SNMUX using:

CONF SNMUX:SN=sn,SNMUX=snmux,OST=STB;

Decision block
Was a fault report output with one of the following MMN numbers:

Y h ... 2
N h ... 12

MMN:LG231-3050 or LG231-4016?

Determine V5IFID

The V5IFID (V5 interface identifier) in GP and AN differ. The interface identifier
has to be corrected.
Refer to the exchange-specific documents to find the V5IFID for the V5 interface
that is reporting a fault.

Decision block
Is the V5LINKID of the fault report the same as in the exchange-specific documents?

Check V5IFID in AN

h ... END

Check V5 identifier of AN.

Y h ... 4
N h ... 5

Determine V5IF number

Refer to the fault printout to obtain the V5IF number.

Interrogate operating state of V5IF

STAT V5IF:V5IF=v5if;
The entered command is repeated with

EXEC'D

A list is given of the operating state(s) of the unit(s) interrogated.

Information block

The V5LINK is initially configured to MBL. In this case it is addressed with the
V5IFID created in the system up to this point (this can be obtained from the
state interrogation). After conversion of the V5IFID, configuration to ACT is done
with nv5ifid as the address.
