Description

Calibration

Type 4371 DeltaShear Unigain* accelerometer. It features a

1032 UNF2A side connector and a 1032 UNF2B threaded
hole for mounting. Type 4371V has the same specifications
and longterm stability as Type 4371, but it has a relaxed
sensitivitytolerance.

For Unigain accelerometers, the sensitivity is calibrated to a

convenient value such as 1, 3.16 or 31.6 pC/ms2. The
sensitivitygiveninthecalibrationcharthasbeenmeasuredat
159.2 Hzwith95% confidence level,usingthecoverage factor
k = 2.

This piezoelectric accelerometer may be treated as a charge

source. Its sensitivity is expressed in terms of charge per unit
acceleration(pC/ms2,pC/g).

TheDeltaSheardesignconsistsofthreepiezoelectricelements
and threeseismicmassesarrangedaroundatriangularcentre
post.Theyareheldinplacebyaclampingringthatisolatesthe
configuration from the base. The ring also prestresses the
piezoelectricelementstogiveahighdegreeoflinearity.During
vibration, the piezoelectric elements produce a charge that is
collected between the housing and the clamping ring. The
piezoelectricelementisaPZ 23leadzirconatetitanateelement,
andthehousingmaterialistitanium.
