Concepts that have proven useful in ordering things easily achieve such an authority
over us that we forget their earthly origins and accept them as unalterable givens. Thus
they come to be stamped as 'necessities of thought,' 'a priori givens,' etc. The path of
scientific advance is often made impassable for a long time through such errors. For
that reason, it is by no means an idle game if we become practiced in analyzing the long
common place concepts and exhibiting those circumstances upon which their
justification and usefulness depend, how they have grown up, individually, out of the
givens of experience. By this means, their all-too-great authority will be broken.
With theories we fill parts of universe that are out of bound of our experience.
The beauty of logic has always delighted me; human ability to elegantly tie, what
seemed to be contradicting, together, in a harmoniously clear solution.
Last four years I spent in a computer science mathematical gymnasium and,
with good judgment, I would say that place was my flowerpot. We were never
asked to recite definitions, but to conclude something on the spot with before
acquired knowledge and to be elegant in solutions, as well as presentation. Since
the first math class, I never thought of going to another unprepared, just like my
professor never thought of sending us off without a task of discovering something
new for the next day. I was good to begin with, but what I learned there is to
think. Out of attended subjects, mathematics, logic, philosophy and physics
engrossed my attention the most. In attempts to keep this essay short, no matter
how many times Ive tried to trim that list, I just couldnt decide which subject to
cross out. All of these sciences prove or offer theories, struggle to explain and in
that direction they intertwine; as tools and inspirations for one another,
foundation and means of examining each other (one another).
In the future, Id like to take a step back and look at the universe at a scale
beyond our Sun. Imaginably, search for exoplanets, probe dark matter, observe
galaxy clusters in hope of, perhaps, learning from the very big about the very
small. Nothing more interesting comes to mind than going on a quest of
understanding the universe and our place in it.
I find physical activity a great way of getting rid of stress and tension, keeping fit
and pretty fun. Over the 6 years Id been training dancing I found it has become a
form of expression because of it being such an individual sport. For roughly the
same duration Ive trained tennis which taught me how to reach goals in
complement with other people. Health is a major priority on my list. Other than
staying active, I enjoy eating healthy, mostly plant based foods. For a big part of
my life I had been a scout and closeness to nature and love for hiking is what
stayed with me (and the ability to tie around 20 different knots!).
In my younger days I was undecided between art and science, but over time
affinity towards science won over. Drawing is still much more than a pastime to
me and the same I can say about reading.
