Purpose
The S04 module is a power supply, which converts the line voltage of
120 V/230 V, 60/50 Hz to the DC output voltage with a nominal value of
24 V.
It simultaneously ensures a non-outage switching to the batterypowered standby operation, or possibly to the accumulator module
permanent charging.
At the S04 module installation, the manufacturer recommends the
application of a current pre-protection of 10 A 13 A with the motor
characteristic of C or D type at the customer.

Module S04

Brief Technical Description

The mains voltage of 230 V, 50 Hz is led to the S04 module via a connector
2. Following overvoltage protection FV1 Plk8 (type 3 manufactured by
Hakel) is of 840 V/500 V protective level, and is provided with the RFI filter
with a minimum attenuation of 40 dB in the range of 0.15 30 MHz.
Protected voltage enters the GS1 KS400A-230WS27, 5-SCP switch mode
supply via an overcurrent protection by the FA1 (10 A) circuit breaker with the
motor trip characteristic (of the C type). The circuit breaker may be used for
the power supply turning out.
The power supply output voltage is matched to the accumulators charging; its
rated value equals 27.5 V. Together with connected A01 battery module, it
creates a system of reserved supply with the operating voltage
range of 20 28 V. To make the text clearer, the rated value of 24 V is used.
The power supply unit is designed for the 160 W output with the restriction
according to the operating temperature range, see Figure 2-1. A line
appliance with maximum consumption of 200 W can be connected to the
outlet 1.
The GS1 power supply output voltage is led via an RF noise-suppressing
filter to the GS2 controlled accumulator charging card; its type labeling of the
manufacturer is UZM2. The card main purpose consists in the limitation of
the accumulators charging current. Rated charging current is set to 2 A by
the manufacturer.
The card simultaneously enables the diagnostic signal generation in case of
the mains voltage failure. This signal is associated with the discharge signal
or the accumulator disconnection signal on the card.
The accumulator discharge signal is generated at the 21 V 0.5 V
accumulator voltage. It is led to the output connector pins 3, and LED
indicator HL3 (DIAG).
If the accumulators voltage equals 20 V 0.5 V, they shall be disconnected
by the card electronics from the power supply system.
Such treated output voltage of 24 V is led via a ZB1 noise-suppressing filter,
and then branched in six directions with the help of three 8-pin connectors
3 5. Each direction is separately protected against overload and short
circuit by means of a reversible overcurrent protection.
Connector 6 is designed for the module connection to the reserve
accumulators. Its eight pins enable direct serial-parallel connection of two
accumulators in the station basic assembly, or four accumulators at the
reserve extended back-up period.
The FA2 circuit breaker serves for the accumulators disconnection, and
simultaneously protects them against a short circuit at the S04 module
output.

Description

List of Setup and Control Elements

There are two circuit breakers on the front side of the S04 module, which can
be used for the power supply switching off. They are covered with lids
labeled FA1 and FA2, and provided with an illustration of the switching on/off
method. As soon as four screws are taken away and the lid removed, we can
switch off the 120 V/230 V supply voltage by means of the FA1 pull-button.
The FA2 controller can be used for disconnecting batteries.
