To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to express my interest in an internship at IR Company. An un-paid

internship is part of my bachelors degree in International Relations.
After a pleasant e-mail conversation with Mark Brown I am very interested in an
internship as a Media Intern at IR Company. I am curious to see how the private
sector works with external analysis and reporting, showing how trends and
developments in civil society, in cooperation with political and economical
concerns, are connected to technological development.
I am very interested in issues such as conditional loans, financing and conflict
minerals and how to analyse, write reports and communicate an opinion for
decision makers about these topics. I understand that these are sensitive issues
because they affect the philosophical and physical development of our world
while at the same time having economic and political interests. The fact that IR
Company works in a very deliberate manner, connects well with my education
and my personal goals: to understand how international processes affect
individuals, companies and governments. My studies have developed my abilities
to analyse processes in our globalised world and my skill set has a strong
connection to IR Companys work, as I understand it.
My academic education within international relations and human rights is
connected to IR Companys work, particularly my analytical knowledge within
politics and economics and my insight into the varied social and cultural values in
different countries. Due in part to my previous experience at Lao, where I was a
sales manager responsible for tasks such as communicating announcements, I
have developed my abilities to communicate and engage with others, two
important qualities for IR Companys relationships with societal contacts. I have
even developed a perception of how new processes and new trends arise and
influence peoples lives around the world. My skills allow me to relate very well to
IR Companys motto, Search for and anticipate.
I can offer IR Company my positive and engaging attitude, my fearlessness when
learning new things and my ability to actively use the knowledge I have. If I sum
myself up in three characteristics I would choose sense of humour, enterprising
and flexible. I am also communicative and pedagogical in written and verbal
contexts, qualities I nourished during my work with Lao.
Personally, I enjoy travelling and learning new things. In my free time I golf a lot
and I am interested in sailing. I have been active in the Navys youth activities
and it was during a voyage with the HMS Falcon in 2000 that I became interested
in international relations. I participated in Cutty Sark Tall Ships race and it was a
tremendous experience to represent Sweden abroad.
I hope I have peaked IR Companys interest to consider me as a Media Intern this
fall.
Sincerely,

John Smith
