Part #1. A reconnaissance flight performed by the hurricane hunter found that the winds in the hurricane shown
below were 35 mph at a distance of 60 miles from the center of the hurricane. The satellite image below showed that
the diameter of hurricanes eye was 30 miles. Using this information, along with the example provided in the
textbook on page 460 in Fig. 24.22, find how fast the winds were in the hurricanes eyewall. Show all your work!

60 miles * 35 mph = V mph * 15 mile radius


(60*35)/15 = 140 mph
Part #2. This hurricane formed on September 10, 2017 and it was the 15th named tropical cyclone of the year.
