LASER HAIR REMOVAL
01
Laser hair removal is not new; the aesthetic procedure has a history of more than five
decades behind it.
Hair can be removed from most of the body parts, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, bottom, back, bikini line etc. The procedure is incredibly precise and fast, so even
on sensitive parts of the body the laser can zap the hair away in minutes without affecting
the skin.

HAIR REMOVAL
Methods
We love hair on the head but not on body. The trend of removing hair has been there
since time immemorial. There are a number of reasons for getting unwanted hair
removed; it can be to look beautiful, to meet cultural demand, for medical requirements
or for religious sentiments.
There are several ways to remove unwanted hair and every method is unique with
varied results.
04
Shaving:
This is probably the most used and cheapest method of hair
removal. However there is risk of irritation, ingrown hairs or
razor bumps and the most annoying thing about shaving is
that it has to be done every day to keep you hair-free.
Threading:
This is an ancient technique of hair removal but the technique
can be done only for smaller body parts like eyebrows, upper
lip or chin. It is a temporary method which requires maintenance every 10 to 15 days and can be painful.
Waxing:
WAX
05
Electrolysis:
Electrolysis is a painful way of removing unwanted hair from
face and body but the results last longer than other methods.
During the procedure, a very fine probe is inserted into the hair
follicle and is then removed with tweezers. This process is extremely painful and each and every follicle needs individual
treatment, so the process is quite time-consuming.
06
VS
Conventional Methods
Laser hair removal is convenient and
effective when compared to the conventional methods like threading, shaving,
waxing, electrolysis or hair removal
creams. Every conventional method tends
to have some sort of discomfort associated with them; be it pain, cumbersome or
not so impressive results. However the
most important concern with all the conventional methods of hair removal is that
they are temporary with results lasting not
more than 15-30 days.
07
Its permanent. . Normally, a person would require 6 to 8 sessions of treatment to get optimum results. The procedure of hair reduction is virtually pain
free.
Candidates undergoing the procedure experience a feel of rubber snapping
against the skin. The pain is much less when compared to the likes of waxing
and epilators.

Afterca
re covery
Laser hair removal is a simple lunch hour aesthetic procedure and if performed under expert guidance
is very safe. Few people may however notice redness or minor skin irritation immediately after the treatment. This is a temporary effect which lasts not more than a day. Doctor may recommend using skin care
products and/or prescribing a customized skin care regimen for early recovery.

Costs
The imminent benefits of laser hair removal vs. commonly used methods of hair removal
make this advanced procedure a hot favourite.
Traditional methods of hair removal including procedures like threading, trimming, shaving, and waxing are never ending processes and are characterised by pain, ingrown
hairs, rough and uneven skin tone and expensive in long term. Also not to forget every
traditional method of hair removal can be done for specific body parts only. For eg:
threading can be done for eyebrows, upper chin and forehead only where as waxing can
be done for large body parts like hands, legs, etc.
LHR is a permanent and painless way of removing unwanted hair and can also result in a
soft and supple skin.

Most people remain hair free for years. When some hair
re-grows, it will be less likely to be noticeable. In some
people maintenance sessions may be required.

NO
Most people find the current advanced laser treatments virtually painless and
quite comfortable especially when compared to other hair removal methods.
6/8
Most people will require about 6 to 8 treatments; however, the actual number
may differ based on the density of hair, hair color, skin color and hormonal
status.
Hair grows in several phases (Anagen, Catagen & Telogen) and a laser can
only affect the currently active growing hair follicles (Anagen). Hence, several
treatments are required to target hair in all phases of growth.

Choosing a good laser hair removal clinic can be a difficult job. With so
many advertisements pretty much saying the same thing, how does one
choose a clinic which will offer treatments that will leave you pleased
and not make you wish that you should have stuck to shaving or hair
removal creams? Here are few points you should consider before enrolling for your treatment:
a) Professional Expertise
Find out whether all the consultants at the centre are qualified Cosmetic Dermatologists.
Laser hair removal is best done under the supervision of Cosmetic Dermatologists.
b) Equipment
Always ensure that you pick up a centre that uses US-FDA approved equipment. You can
take photographs of the equipment used and go online to check on the same. Do remember
there are a lot of cheap laser hair removal machines around whose safety and efficacy is not
established.
c) Volumes
It is always advisable to pick up centres after you find out how long the clinic has been there
and how many clients they have treated.
If a laser clinic has lot of experience in laser hair removal, you are more likely to feel at ease
going for treatment there.
Good centres usually would have clean reception, consultation and treatment rooms. Go by
how you feel about the above things.
