INTRODUCTION
The term curriculum refers the lessons and academic content taught in a
school or in a specific course or program curriculum is often defined as the
courses preferred by a school, but it is rarely used in such a general sense in
school depending on how broadly educators define or employ the term
curriculum typically refers to the knowledge and skills students are expected to
learn which included the learning standers or learning objectives they are
expected to meet. The units and lessons that teachers teach the assignments
and projects given to students the books , materials , videos and readings used
in a course and the tests assessments and other methods used to evaluate
student learning.
Curriculum construction is complex process many principles are
behind in curriculum construction principle of child centeredness; principles of
activity oriented creativity etc are some important principles of curriculum
construction.

CURRICULUM
The word curriculum is derived from the lathin word currere which
means run thus curriculum means a course of to be run for reaching a certain
goal or destination. Thus the traditional definition of curriculum is a course of
study or training leading to a product or education teaching. learning process
does not operate in a vacuum. Certain planned experiences have to be
provided in school so that optimum human development according to the needs
of a particular country is possible thus the term curriculum in recent years has
come to mean all the planned activities and experience available to the students
under the director of the school. Curriculum is dynamic and changes according
to the needs of the pupils and society.
MATHEMATICS CURRICULUM
Mathematics curriculum forms an important part of the school
curriculum .The Indian education commission (1986) emphasized the
importance of mathematics the school curriculum in view of the importance of
qualification and the advent of automation and cybernetics in the scientific and
industrial revolution. Mathematics curriculum comprises all those systematically
planned activities carried out by the student individually in group or without the
supervision of the teacher inside or out side the classroom school with the
definite purpose of realizing / school with the definite purpose of realsing the
aims and objectives of teaching mathematics.

The content of curriculum cannot be same for all times to come. It should
not be static. It must be dynamic and change with the changing times. It should
reflect the latest trends in the field of education and psychology.
10. Principle of Utility.
Curriculum should be useful rather than ornamental. It should not only
include subjects which owe their place in it to tradition. The curriculum must
have practical utility for students. So there should be some provision for
technical and vocational education in the curriculum.
The various principles of curriculum construction should be kept in mind.
Various regional and national conditions should also be considered. It fact, all
considerations which will help in achieving the aims of education should be
given due consideration.
