Period of Internship: [US-based Interns] July 21, 2010 - August 7, 2010 (including an orientation
session prior to the program)
[Japan-based Interns] July 24, 2010 - August 8, 2010 (plus an orientation
session on July 4, 2010)
Position: Summer Program Intern
Hours: Full-time, residential (in addition to extended hours for chaperoning and
supervising activities)
School will provide: [US-based Interns] On-campus housing with free cafeteria privileges,
domestic transportation (up to $500), and extra meal stipend.
[Japan-based Interns] On-campus housing with free cafeteria privileges,
round-trip transportation between Narita and Keio campus as a chaperon, travel
insurance and extra meal stipend

Internship Description:
Qualifications
• Excellent command of English language
• A good team worker in a multi-cultural group
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-pace program environment
• At least two years of college-level Japanese language or cultural studies strongly preferred
• An undergraduate or a graduate student in Education, International Studies, Intercultural
Communication, or related major preferred
• Experience in working with youth and/or experience in living/studying/working in another
country in a cross-cultural environment preferred
• Media arts or digital technology related experience helpful
This position will
• work under direct supervision of the Residential Director, and at times with the Administrative
Director and Program Director
• ensure program participants’ health, safety, hygiene, discipline, group dynamics and social
adjustment and look out for early signs of a serious problem or danger and refer them to
Residential Director or an appropriate staff
• assist program staff with guiding the participants through a daily schedule of activities
• work closely with dormitory supervisors to monitor participants’ life in the dorms
• assist administrative tasks as assigned
• participate in sports and other recreational activities with enthusiasm and occasionally lead
those activities
• chaperone students to field trips
• if bilingual, be a translator for participants, parents, DCTV staff, and other staff members as
needed.
