BACHELOR OF ARTS PART II EXAMINATION


Regulations:
1.

The examination shall be open to:A. Any college student who:(i)

has been on the rolls of a college, affiliated with the University throughout the academic year
preceding the examination provided he has completed the prescribed course or has attended and
completed the second years course in one academic year;

(ii)

has passed the Part-I examination or failing in maximum two subjects;

(iii)

has his name submitted to the Controller of Examinations by the Principal of the College he has
most recently attended;

(iv)

Produces the following certificates signed by the Principal of the College he has most recently
attended:1.

of good character;

2.

of having attended not less than [two-thirds]1 of the full course of lectures delivered in each of
the subjects in which he desires to be examined.
The Principals of affiliated Colleges may condone for valid reasons a deficiency upto 5% of
the lectures in written part of the subject and 5% in practicals. Candidates falling short of
lectures or practicals above this percentage shall not be permitted to appear in examination.
Provided further that in case of persons who are selected by a national sports organization for
training and or participation in an international sports contest as representatives of Pakistan,
the lectures delivered in the College during the period of absence for such training and or
participation in the international sports contest shall be deducted from the total number of
lectures delivered to the class and the percentage of 66 based on the balance of lectures.

of having satisfactorily performed the work of the class;

B- Any external/ private candidate who is admitted under Chapter 1 of Part 1 (Volume II of the Calendar)
and has passed the part I examination or failing in maximum two subjects.
An external/private candidate, who has passed intermediate or equivalent examination two years before
the commencement of Part-II Examination, can appear in Part-I & Part-II examinations simultaneously.

The Syndicate or the determining authority under Regulation 4 of Chapter III of Part III (Volume I of the
Calendar) shall have power to exclude any candidate from the examination, if it is satisfied that such
candidate is not a fit person to be admitted thereto.

The rates of fee for this examination shall be as shown in the schedule of Fees.

The last date for purposes of counting two-thirds of lectures attended by a candidate for the examination shall be one month
before the date of commencement of the examination.
In case of failed students, the lectures shall be counted only from the date of re-admission or first October whichever is earlier.
In case of candidates who join late owing to late publication of results or who seek admission after the declaration of results of
the Supplementary Examination, the lectures shall be counted from after 10 days of the declaration of the result or the date of
their joining whichever is earlier.
A failed student or one who has completed his course but has not appeared in the examination on re-joining the college can
change his Elective Subjects so long as he can put in the number of attendances required under the Regulations.

4. Every candidate for B.A. Examination shall forward his admission form to the Controller of Examinations
as per dates notified by the Controller of Examinations accompanied by the prescribed fee each time when
he has to appear in the examination.
5. Annual and Supplementary Examination of Part II for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts shall be held at such
dates and places as may be determined by the Controller of Examinations.
6. A candidate appearing as a whole shall appear in the Annual Examination only, if otherwise eligible.
7. The minimum number of marks required to pass this examination shall be thirty-three percent in each
subject, separately in written paper and practical.
Provided that a candidate failing in one or more subjects of Part-II or falling short of higher division by a
margin which can be made up by distributing five marks be declared as pass or placed in higher division the
additional marks upto 5 to be added shall be deducted from other passing subject/s, if possible.
Provided further that grace marks shall not be awarded to any candidate for the purpose of enabling him to
get exemption in any paper.
Provided further that a candidate who fails in two subjects be placed in compartment and be allowed to
appear in the Supplementary Examination. The candidate is eligible to pass the failing subject/s in next
three consecutive chances.
8. Successful candidates will be placed in the following divisions:
First division
60% and above marks
Second division
not less than 45% marks
Third division
below 45% marks
The division shall be calculated on the basis of total marks obtained in both Parts (Part I plus Part II).
Provided that the candidate who passes the examination in supplementary shall not be entitled to get any
prize or medal.

The candidates are allowed to improve division/marks (as a whole) within next two consecutive Annual
Examinations immediately after passing the examination. A candidate who improves his division/marks
shall surrender his previous degree/result card for being cancelled by the university.
The candidates who want to improve their division/marks may appear in Part-I or Part-II Examination or
both.
The candidates desiring to improve their division/marks shall be allowed to change their subject/s in
accordance with Statutes-16 above, if otherwise eligible.

10. As soon as possible after the termination of the examination, the Controller of Examinations shall notify the
result of the candidates showing the total number of marks and division obtained by them.
11. Each successful candidate shall be granted a Degree of Bachelor of Arts, stating the division in which he
has passed. The fact whether a candidate has passed the examination in parts or as a whole, regular or late
college or external candidate or as improved division/marks, shall be indicated on the Degree.
12. Subject to the provision of Statutes, a candidate who is a graduate of this University or of another
University whose Degree Examination is recognized as equivalent to the Degree Examination of this
University may on payment of the prescribed fee, be allowed to appear as a candidate of additional subjects
at any subsequent Examination (Annual or Supplementary) in any one or more subject(s) prescribed for this
Examination except the subject(s) in which he has already passed the Examination, provided that in the case
of Science subject/s, the candidate has attended the prescribed number of practicals for the subject/s in an
institution affiliated for B.Sc. Degree of this University. Such candidate on obtaining at least 33 per cent
marks in the written papers and practicals of that subject or subjects, shall be declared to have passed in that
subject or subjects and granted a certificate to that effect.
13. A candidate who fails to pass or to present himself for the examination shall not be entitled to claim a
refund of the fee. However, the fee shall be refundable to the legal heirs of a candidate who dies before the
commencement of the examination as per fee refund regulations.
14. The exempted candidates are allowed a margin of 15 days for submission of their Admission Forms and
fee for the subsequent examinations after the declaration of their result.
