2. Institutionalized learning promoted

Mainstreaming of the DRR and CCA into the training and education curricula of 43
Institutions. MOUs already signed with 16 universities and 8 training institutes.
Education & reference materials and funding supports also provided.
E-learning centres have been launched in 10 universities and public training institutes.
More than 20 universities participated in the first University Colloquium on the DM
Curriculum standards that was organized with Khulna University.
A separate department established in Dhaka University on Disaster Management
Science and Climate Change.
CDMP supported DM Curricula development with DU (1 Department, 1 Institute and 1
Masters Programme), BUP, NSU,BRUR, PSTU, CUET.
Supported partial tuition fee for 57 GoB officials included MoDMR and 157 students
from non-government/private organization in DM study. Support in PhD & Mphil level
DRR & CCA research for the government and other professional is under process.
More than 550 titles were procured in different thematic areas.

2. Institutionalized learning promoted (cont.)

Supported universities, training institution in organizing innovative workshop on DRR &


CCA.
BPATC organized workshop on the Challenges of mainstreaming DRR and their
solution in the Senior Staff Training Course.
International Workshop on Human security and Natural Disaster organized by BUP,
International Seminar on Disaster Management organized by BPATC with CDMP.
Provided technical and financial support for 25 Doctors for Certificate course on
Emergency Health Care management in Natural Disaster at Public Health Department
of North South University in collaboration with DGHS.
Supported training academy (BARD, RDA) to organize curriculum review and need
assessment workshop to incorporate the DRR & CCA module in the training curriculum.
BPATC has planned to share their curriculum and identify the possible area of
incorporation to customize module.

3. Capacity building of the government key agencies

Developed training module on Disaster Risk Reduction, Response and Early Recovery
jointly with ERF and DDM
Delivered training session and provided resource materials for DRRO & PIO
Supported NILG to incorporate DRR & CCA content in the training module and falittaed
the training session
Organized training for NDRCC officials
Organized workshop on DRR & CCA with DDM, MDMR

4. Knowledge and awareness of community people enhanced

Bangla & English version of the Introduction to Disaster Management (IDM) and
Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) modules are now accessible at
http://elearning.cdmp.org.bd/. CDMP also provided the off-line versions on CDs to
help the Centres.
CDMP complemented the acquisition of printed materials with the available electronic
materials to make up the knowledge management portal. More than 260 online
sources of the DRR & CCA knowledge products have been identified.
CDMP is planning to provide the DRR and CCA contents, to the A2I District Information
Centre for inclusion of DRR & CCA parameters, Bangla versions of policy and
programme documents, and other audio visual materials towards effectively
transforming the risk communications at community level.
Support has been extended to fourteen licensed community radios through the
workshop on content & capacity building on DRR & CCA for broadcasting and localizing
of community radio content among various listeners group at the core community level
in various vulnerable locations.

4. Knowledge and awareness of community people enhanced (cont.)

The Solution Exchange remains very active platform of DM Professionals, think tankers
and community people to generate and discuss on DRR & CCA. SolEx, National Web
Portal under PMOs and DMIC of CDMP remained functional.
Several editions of Knowledge, Communications & Information Updates including Press
releases, media advisories, fact sheets and media lines were produced for all media
events issued and posted to the CDMP website.
Daily media monitoring established. Regular Monthly Bulletin Towards Resilience
published. Media exposure initiated.
MoU signed with Press Institute of Bangladesh for strengthening of media role on DRR
& CCA and to create a pool of media professionals to act on DRR & CCA issues and also
to create awareness.
1 million Posters, 50 thousand leaflets and other communication materials published
and distributed countrywide on landslide hazard awareness, earthquake awareness,
early warning and also on various disasters.
Video documentation on various key aspects of disaster management as well as
implementation status on DRR & CCA prepared.

5. Raising the profile of DRR and CCA (nationally and globally)


CDMP has been supporting the GoB in their participation in various international forums
and events on DRR and CCA. Support extended to Government Delegation for their
participation on different national and international events like COP 18, SAARC related
events, 5th AMCDRR, GPDRR etc. Extensive support provided to various high-level
international delegations visit to Bangladesh by showcasing the achievement of the
country in leading disaster management frontier.
Some of the high-level visits facilitated by CDMP follows:

Visit of Ms. Margareta Wahlstorm, Special Representative of the Secretary General for Disaster Risk
Reduction & UNISDR Chief to the Disaster and Climate Resilient Habitat at Bainpara, Dacope.
Visit of UK Secretary of State for International development Minister Mr. Andrew Mitchell MP to
the Disaster and Climate Resilient Habitat at Bainpara, Dacope, Khulna.
Visit of Australian Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs Mr. Richard Marles at Char
Kukri-Mukri, Bhola
Visit of H.E. Mr. Amaraweera Mahinda, Sri Lankan Minister of Disaster Management with high level
dignitaries. Support the exchange visit of the Chinese Delegation under the DFID South-South
initiative.
Support Ethiopian delegations learning visit etc.
