Summer Associate, Office of the Publisher
Conducted strategic research to support the Times digital ventures. Acted as a liaison between the marketing,
publishing, and editorial teams to develop the Times inaugural podcast. Developed and researched story ideas for
the Times newest digital venture, #EmergingUs, led by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Jose Antonio Vargas.
Prepared an extensive brief on California water policy to prepare the publisher for an interview on the drought
with California Governor Jerry Brown.

Editorial Intern
Worked for Participants journalism site, TakePart.com. Participated in staff story meetings; wrote numerous
blogs, and a full-length feature about gun control on college campuses. Chosen as team leader for internship-long
assignment; led team in conceptualizing a mobile application to drive traffic to the site and inspire millennials to
take part in social action. Drafted designs, conducted market analysis, surveyed company employees, and
presented the app to Participant executives, including the CEO.

Journalism Workshop Instructor
Co-taught two courses in 2015: one on making a podcast, and the other on live-tweeting, with Mashable digital
entertainment reporter Saba Hamedy. Led a course on how to cover a public meeting alongside Los Angeles
Times transportation reporter Laura Nelson in 2014. CSPA is a two-week journalism workshop for high school
journalists. Participated as a student in 2012, covered 35 writing assignments; returned to the program as a
counselor in 2013 and as a teaching assistant for the last two years.

Senior News Editor
Advise reporters on the administration and business beats; brainstorm, delegate, edit articles; interview University
administrators, including President Mark Schlissel. Cover University Board of Regents meetings. Led and edited
a full series in October 2015 reviewing President Schlissels first year in office.
Video Staff Member
Film and edit videos to accompany print coverage. Assignments have included a student die-in protest, and the
opening of a new, non-alcoholic bar on campus.
