1 Introduction

Start-Up Kit
TheAlarisprintercomesequippedwithastartupkit,whichincludes
toolsandaccessories.Thesetoolsandaccessoriesmayberequiredduring
theinstallationandareavailableforusebythecustomer.
ItisrecommendedthatthestartupkitbestoredneartheAlarisprinter.
Thestartupkitincludesthefollowing:
CustomerToolkitAllenkeys,screwdrivers,amirror,ascraper,a
spatulaandaloupeforregularoperationandmaintenance.The
toolsarekeptinaspecialpouch.
Consumableitemswipingcloths,pinkpaper,transparenciesand
soon,tomaintaintheprinterforapproximatelytwoyears.
PartsandaccessoriesforemergencymaintenanceoftheAlaris
system.

Thenoiselevelatadistanceof100cm(39.4in)fromallsidesoftheAlaris
printerislowerthan70dBwhileprinting.Impactnoisewasnotfound.

Unloading Space
Inordertoselectthecorrecttypeoftrucktodelivertheprinter,the
presenceorabsenceofaloadingdockatthecustomersitemustbe
identified.
Checktheroutefromtheunloadinglocationtotheinstallationlocation
andmakesuretherearenoobstructions.

Unloading Assistance
Thecustomermustprovideprofessionalunloaderstounloadthepallets
andtransferthemtothesite.Theunloaderswillassistthedistributors
personnelinunpackingtheequipment.

Training
AftertheinstallationoftheAlaris3Dprintingsystem,anauthorized
Objetcustomersupportengineerwilltrainanoperatorandsupervisethe
operationoftheprinter(1workdays).Theprinteroperatorneedstobe
availableduringtheentireinstallationandtrainingperiodtwowork

Isolationfromsourcesofvibrationsuchasgeneratorsandcentral
airconditioningsystems.
Protectionagainstsprinklersorpipescarryingliquidsabovethe
system.
Adequatefreespaceatthefrontoftheprintertoensureconvenient
accessforloadingmaterialsandremovingprintedmodels.

Forconvenience,ObjetrecommendsthatyouplacetheAlarisprinterona
stabletableorstandwithlockablewheels.
YoucanorderaprinterstandfromObjetusingpartnumber:OBJ04005.
Innormaloperation,theAlarisprinterrequiresaclearspaceof20cm
behindtheprinter.

of graceful system shutdown.

customersLANbeforeprinterinstallation.
You control both the built-in Alaris computer and the server workstation with same
keyboard-monitor-mouse set by using a KVM switchbox. The switchbox is
provided in the printer Start-up Kit.
Theserverworkstationspecifications(listedinTable6)arerelevantforall
CADandremoteclientworkstationsthatsendmodelstotheprinter,with
theexceptionofthefollowing:
Clientworkstationsrequireaminimumof1 GB RAM.

Temperature
ThetemperatureintheroomcontainingtheAlarissystemshouldbe18C
to25C(64.5Fto77F).

Humidity
TherelativehumidityintheroomcontainingtheAlarissystemshouldbe
30%70%noncondensing.Theroomrequiresconstantrefreshingofthe
humidairbyappropriateventilationunits(refertoSection5.7.3,
Ventilation).
5.7.3
Ventilation
Ventilationisrequiredtomaintainthenecessaryenvironmentconditions
intheroomwheretheAlarissystemisoperated(seeabove).The
ventilationsystemshouldhavethecapacitytoreplacealloftheairinthe
roomfourtimesanhour.
The Alaris printer evacuates air using an internal blower with a capacity of
106 CFM (cubic feet per minute) (180 m3 per hour).

Solvent/Cleaning Solution
Thecustomerisresponsibleforstockingeitherisopropanolorethanol
(>96%).Atleastoneliterofeithersolventshouldbeavailableatthesiteat
alltimes.
Isopropanolisacommonsolventthatcangenerallybesuppliedbyany
chemicalstore.Thefullnameofisopropanolis2propanolorisopropyl
alcohol(IPA).
Ifisopropanolisnotavailable,ethanol(ethylalcohol)(>96%)isan
alternativecleaningsolvent.

Storecontainersofmodelandsupportmaterials,indoors,inadryarea
withadequateventilationandwiththetemperaturekeptbetween1627
degreesCelsius(6081degreesFahrenheit).Similarly,transportationof
thesematerialsrequiresadryenvironmentkeptbetween1627degrees
Celsius(6081degreesFahrenheit).
Printingmaterialsarecombustible.Neverexposeprintingmaterialsto
flames,heatorsparks.Printingmaterialsshouldbestoredinconformance
withapplicablefiredepartmentandinsurancecompanyregulationsand
otherapplicablelaws,regulations,codesandguidelines.
5.10.2
Shelf Life
Alarisprintingmaterialscanbeuseduntiltheexpirydateindicatedonthe
container,providedthatthecontainerisundamaged.Inventory
provisionsshouldbemadetoinsurethatcontainerswiththeclosest
expirydateareusedfirst.
If the printing materials are not stored under the recommended conditions, their
effective life is shortened.
5.10.3
PrintingmaterialsforAlarisprintersaresuppliedinUVproofcontainers.
Whenacontainerisnotinuse,thecontainermustbecappedtoprotectthe
materialfromcontaminationandstrayUVradiation.Inaddition,keeping
acontainercappedminimizestheriskofaccidentalspillageofthe
material.
Plastic containers made from monomer-soluble materials such as polystyrene or
polyvinyl chloride should not be used for the storage of spilled material.
5.11
Fire Control
Agasfireextinguishershouldbeusedincaseoffireinornearthesystem.
Otherextinguishersarealsoacceptable,buttheuseofliquidfire
extinguishersmustbeavoided.(Contactyourlocalfireauthoritiesfor
recommendations.)
