Just as context, "nothing happens" does not mean that there is no trial, or even

no consequences. The officers in these cases are frequently put on administrati


ve leave with pay or even fired. However, since we're talking about murder here,
these sorts of punishments are not really appropriate. Likewise, the minimum se
ntence for second-degree murder is around 25 years in prison. The minimum senten
ce for manslaughter is around 1 year in prison.
Also, not all of these trials are totally without justice. Sometimes the system
works as intended. Most of these are pretty surreal though. If you don't believe

Jan. 1st, 2009: A fight breaks out in a train in Oakland, California. Police arr
ive, handcuff everyone involved. An officer draws his Tazer to taze one of the h
andcuffed men but... whoops. He accidentally drew his firearm instead. 2 years i
n jail for killing the man.
May 16, 2010: Police raid a home, with a warrant, where a murder suspect may be
hiding. They come in with flash grenades, riot shields, and guns. They kill a se
ven year old girl. The murder suspect is eventually caught. Nothing happens to t
he officer, because the girl's grandmother was "rowdy" during the trial, forcing
the judge to call a mistrial.
Nov 19, 2011: An old man's medical alert necklace triggers by accident. Police a
rrive and kill him. Nothing happens to the police, because the old man protested
when they broke his door down.
Feb 26, 2012: Two idiots get into a scuffle, and one is shot dead. Nothing happe
ns to the other one, because it was self-defense. Protests erupt across the coun
try.
March 2012: An officer gets drunk and shoots into a crowd for fun, killing one.
The police department and state attorney office work together to make sure that
nothing happens to the officer.
November 29, 2012: The engine of a Chevy Malibu accidentally backfires. Thirteen
policemen, thinking they heard a gunshot, decide to chase down the car and shoo
t 137 bullets into it, killing two. No guns are found in the smouldering wreak.
The judge rules that because so many police were involved, no one policeman was
directly responsible. So nothing happens to the police.
Nov 2, 2013: A young woman's car breaks down on a rainy morning and she knocks o
n a door asking for help. The gentleman shoots her. He is sentenced to 17 years.
April 30, 2014: A man is arrested on suspicion of not paying a buisness tax and
is murdered during his arrest. Nothing happens to the police officer. Protests
erupt across the country. His family gets $6 million in an out-of-court settleme
nt.
August 5, 2014: A man looks at BB guns at a Walmart. Someone calls 911, and poli
ce gun him down. Nothing happens to the police.
August 5, 2014: A boy steals a few cigarillos from a conveninience store. When h
e sees police, he starts to run, but they gun him down. Nothing happens to the p
olice. Protests erupt across the country.
August 11, 2014: Police stop a crazy man with prior convictions. They arrest and
execute him in front of a crowd. Nothing happens to the police.
Nov 20, 2014: Two officers are on patrol in a project when one of their guns goe

s off, killing a boy. The officer could face up to 15 years, but only because he
turned himself in.
Nov 22, 2014: Police kill a child playing with an air-soft gun. A grand jury tri
al will be held.
April 4, 2015: Police officer makes a traffic stop for a broken brake light. The
old man in the car has no registration, insurance, or other paperwork, but clai
ms to be buying the car. When the officer is checking the paperwork, the man fle
es. The officer hunts him down and sadistically murders him. The officer is indi
cted and could face up to 30 years.
April 12, 2015: A young man is arrested for possessing an illegal firearm. He is
murdered as he is being transported to jail. Baltimore burns.
June 17, 2015: A madman opens fire on a church, killing nine. His cellmate in ja
il is the police office from the events of April 4th. The judge at the bond hear
ing acknowledges that we should feel sympathy for the madman's family. The victi
ms' families tell the madman directly that they forgive him and are praying for
his soul.The governer has asked that the madman get the death penalty. The trial
is ongoing.
