/ Thesis: The Bile and The Ideal: Melancholic Jewelry

This thesis reveals the dichotomous nature of the melancholic artist. The
residue of the past imprints itself onto the soul and causes an ephemeral
state of sustained mourning known as melancholy. Such longing for the
absent induces the need to aestheticize her sorrow; the melancholic artist
must enforce a process on herself to provide a semblance of balance in life.
