ADMISSION DETAILS

THE PROGRAMME
The postgraduate programme in management leading to the Post Graduate Diploma in
Management (PGDM), spread over three years, consists of nine terms, each approximately of three
months duration. The classes are held from 6.45 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. from Monday through
Thursday, and if need be on Fridays and weekends.
The programme consists of 36 courses - 30 compulsory courses of 3 credits each and 6 elective
courses of 3 credits each totalling to 108 credits.
The first-year courses present students with a comprehensive view of the management discipline.
A broad perspective of industrial environment is presented and a sound foundation is laid for
advanced learning in the subsequent years. The courses offered during the first and second years
are core courses and they are compulsory.
The third-year courses take into account the need for bringing into the classroom the study of
cutting - edge techniques and innovation in various fields and in helping students apply theoretical
inputs to practice. Besides six compulsory courses, students have to choose 6 electives from a
wide array of specializations, viz, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management and General
Management.
The performance of students at the PGDM programme is continually evaluated and rigorously
monitored to motivate them to excel. The grading synthesizes, on a nine point scale, the continual
process of assessment and reflects the students cumulative performance in assignments, reports,
project-work, field-work, class participation, quizzes, mid-term and end-term tests.

ADMISSIONS

Eligibility
Persons who satisfy the following criteria are eligible to apply:

The applicant should be a graduate from a recognized university or hold a professional


qualification recognized as equivalent to a bachelors degree and should have secured a minimum
of 50% marks in the aggregate.

The applicant should have full-time work experience in Business / Industry / Government for a
minimum period of two years.

The applicant should be employed at the time of applying for the programme.

Admission Test
Candidates are required to take either LIBA Admission Test conducted by Loyola Institute of
Business Administration (LIBA) to be held at LIBA, Loyola College, Chennai or Management
Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA).
Admissions Procedure
1. Application must be made in the prescribed form. The application form is available at The
Admissions Office, LIBA, Loyola College, Nungambakkam, Chennai.

2. There will be a WRITTEN TEST for a total duration of two hours and would be held at LIBA,

Loyola College, Nungambakkam, Chennai. This objective-type test is designed to evaluate


the candidates aptitude for management studies in areas such as verbal, quantitative skills,
general knowledge and analytical reasoning. Calculators will not be allowed. Based on the
scores of LIBA Admission Test / MAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview
at LIBA, Loyola College. Chennai for final Selection.
