Ten years after completing my MBA, I can see in

TOP WORLDWIDE ROI

The SDA Bocconi MBA ranks among the top programs in the world as the best value for
money, the investment in MBA education which pays itself back most quickly. According to
the latest Forbes ranking of return on investment (ROI, the average time graduates need to
earn back tuition fees), the SDA Bocconi MBA is 3rd among non-US programs in the world,
while the Good-Value MBAs ranking 2014 by The Economist places the School 4th globally.
Furthermore, the SDA Bocconi MBA 1-year format will maximize your investment by
decreasing your time away from work while requiring you to manage a busy schedule in an
intense program structure.

The MBA at SDA Bocconi is an intense, fast-paced and

exciting journey. It allowed me to connect with brilliant
people and benefit from their experiences by maximizing
my international exposure in the shortest time possible.
It was an investment worth making.
MICHELE NAVA | MBA 2015 | Italian

was the best way to be exposed
to the European business markets.
It was by far the best career decision Ive made!

MANAGEMENT EXCELLENCE
SDA Bocconi School of Management is part of Universit Bocconi: the only International
University specialized in teaching business and economics, Universit Bocconi is one of
Europes oldest and most prestigious business education institutions.

SDA Bocconi completely surpassed my expectations

on how effective and powerful learning about
leadership in the classroom could actually be. They
provided me with the critical know-how and finesse
to enhance the skills in my managerial toolbelt.
ANTONIO MICHELE MARCHITELLI
MBA 2015 | U.S.

I enjoy immensely interacting with the MBA students at SDA

Bocconi School of Management by teaching a course on
emerging economy growth and the global economy.

PRACTICAL AND APPLIED KNOWLEDGE

The curriculum is designed to give you the theoretical knowledge for managerial excellence,
while a practical perspective within the program enables you to test knowledge gained and
skills learned in the classroom.
We prepare future leaders to be ambidextrous, capable of blending an in-depth understanding
of today's situation with a coherent vision for tomorrow.

The SDA Bocconi MBA program always emphasized

customer engagement. This is the ideal program for
any manager aiming at building a strong background
and leveraging it into a challenging omnichannel future.
EMANUELA PRANDELLI | SDA Bocconi
MBA Professor of Marketing

8 | Full-Time MBA

RELATIONAL COCOON
With just about 100 MBA students, the program demands a heavy investment in
relationships and a commitment to cooperation and team-oriented work. This environment
results in bonds built with classmates, faculty and alumni that will last a lifetime.

With just over 100 students you get the personal attention that you
need to succeed. From your professors to the Career Service staff,
someone is always there to listen to your concerns and help you
advance your skills and career.
LEON SCOTT CALLENDER | MBA 2012 | U.S.
Director, La Marzocco Home, Seattle, USA

What we experience in the class feels very private, very

intimate. It feels like a tailor-made education.
IVAYLA TZVETKOVA | MBA 2013 | Canadian/Bulgarian

INTERNATIONAL CLASS
The spectrum of nationality, age, gender, professional experience and academic background
of our MBA class brings energy and fruitful exchange that few MBA programs can offer. 70%
of SDA Bocconi students are not from Italy, and come from about 30 different countries, a
real advantage for modern MBAs, who will be working in multinational settings and must
learn to work effectively with a variety of cultures.

Interacting with talented people from so many different

cultures and learning about where they are from has
been incredibly enriching for me personally, but has
also helped prepare me to be a global manager.
ANTHONY GALLESE
MBA 2015 | U.S./Italian

Having a diverse international class was one of the main

reasons I chose SDA Bocconi. I was able to hear the real
business perspectives from my classmates from their country
instead of just reading an article. My classmates also taught
me about standard business practices in their countries.
TIFFANY HOLLINS | MBA 2015 | | U.S.

I learned more from my classmates than the

program itself, especially the teams for group work.
Lucky enough, I have a team which all members
are from totally different countries every term.

STRATEGIC LOCATION
An International MBA in Milano means the best mix of style, innovation, leisure, people and
places. Milano will be your campus - a city at the center of the European industrialized belt and
of Italian business and nance. The hub of fashion, creativity and design, with a great potential
for contacts and careers. Milano's creative atmosphere, combined with the pragmatic academic
legacy of SDA Bocconi, provide a unique blend in molding tomorrow's leaders.

SDA Bocconi is located in one of the top fashion capitals

PAVLO STROBLJA | MBA 2015 | Ukrainian/German,
President of SDA Bocconi Luxury Arts Club

Practically, Milano is in the middle of Europe

and is one of few cities that have three airports
with very convenient access to the city.
This makes the commuting between Milano,

CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Growing professionally also requires cultural growth. You will widen your interests and catch
the opportunity to immerse into Italys unparalleled wealth of cultural heritage. You will open
your horizons and absorb the educational power of the arts. Opera and music, iconic food,
exquisite wines, countless works of art are some famous elements of Italian culture, which
you can experience to add value to your growth.

The SDA Bocconi MBA was my entrance into fascinating

Italian culture, through which I found my dreams, my
aspirations and my real self.
LILI QIN | MBA 2011 | Chinese
Assistant General Manager/Investment Project Manager

The added advantage of the MBA program at SDA Bocconi is the

exposure it provided into the world of art, history, food and wine
just by virtue of its location. Being in the midst of such diversity
acted as a stimulant, one which ensured enriching experiences,
amazing memories and a holistic growth of me as an individual.

A SUCCESSFUL LEARNING MODEL.

A VERY FULL-TIME MBA

What you breathe in an MBA class is something unique.

An effervescent mix of cutting edge knowledge in

community that links the faculty with students and
knowing that everyone is committed to excellence. The

STEFANO GATTI | MBA Director, SDA Bocconi MBA

The MBA at SDA Bocconi is all about exposure:

exposure to new people, new cultures, new challenges,
new industries and new business models. Its a fast
paced, demanding environment that pushed me to use
my creativity and business acumen by putting me
constantly out of my comfort zone. A unique journey
designed to maximize your future opportunities
LUCA CASSANI | MBA 2015 | Italian

The SDA Bocconi MBA moves at a very fast pace and is completed
much quicker than most other programs, despite having the same
workload. You may think this is a bad thing, but it was amazing.
The program really challenges students to get the most out of the
experience and I would not change that for anything.
VITO M. IERACI | MBA 2012 | Canadian
Senior Finance Manager, GlaxoSmithKline, Canada

OUR MBA PROGRAM CORNERSTONES

CORE COURSES AND SEMINARS

Our MBA program is organized around three cornerstones, which represent the competence
requirements of a global manager
 PLANNING & INNOVATING
This sequence is focused on
a detailed understanding of the
macroeconomic and microeconomic
environment in order to plan the core
strategic and marketing actions that
drive value creation for stakeholders.
Specic attention is given to the ability
to change and evolve towards venues
of value creation that are sustainable
and hard to imitate.

 CONTROLLING & INVESTING

 LEADING PEOPLE & PROCESSES

Measuring the value produced by

an organization is the starting point to
understand the opportunities it faces
and the investments it can sustain.
Starting from a thorough
understanding of nancial markets and
nancial tools this second sequence
provides a 360 degree coverage of
management accounting, corporate
finance and financial institutions.

Core competences of an organization

lie in smart people and in effective and
efcient organizational processes.
This sequence aims to understand
how to design the organization,
fuel it with the energy of smart and
committed people and orchestrate a
system of incentives that aim at both
exploiting the existing com petences
and exploring new scenarios.

DELVING DEEPER COURSES

Many opportunities arise with these courses to further engage around our 3 cornerstones and move beyond what is offered in the
core MBA courses, delving deeper into specific managerial topics.

Rev up your engines for the Summer Internship

Our MBA is one of the very few one-year programs that include a mandatory summer internship.
The Summer Internship campaign is where you start interacting with a network of international employers who are recruiting MBA students
for eight to twelve weeks internship projects between June and August.
How you prepare for this campaign is crucial, as the summer internship is not only an opportunity to apply to real life what you have learned
in the classroom, but for many of you might well be the rst step in the right direction of a much desired career change.
The campaign starts as early as January with tough selection processes, an invaluable bootcamp to develop the right skills for your
permanent job search. Chances are this is the rst time you are encountering such high prole, demanding recruiters and the Career Service
team will make sure you go to the appointment in top shape, prepping you with a range of activities.

 CAREER COUNSELING
Targeted, pragmatic one-on-one advice by Career Service team members each one an expert in different industry sectors to help
you with your professional goals and your day-to-day quest for your career change.

 CAREER SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS

Envision your career plan, engage in challenging discussions with experts in different industries, test your job interviewing ability,
networking or salary negotiation skills, learn to crack those business cases. The seminars & workshop program varies according to
each class prole and market trends, but always includes the fundamentals of job market dynamics and a thorough preparation for
the most challenging selection processes.

 COACHING
A tailored coaching program with top SDA Bocconi coaches which help you enhance your self awareness, recognize your strengths
and maximize your personal growth during your whole MBA experience.

Meet the employers

All year round, Career Service invites employers and alumni to come on campus to meet MBA students, interview
them and recruit them for summer internships or permanent positisions.

Attending company presentations and networking events and making yourself visible helps you start creating a network of contacts
you will be able to build on for years to come.
Visiting employers at their sites is even more exciting: interest-based groups of students may be invited to and help organize Career treks
and Company visits in Italy and abroad.
International Business Challenges sponsored by global companies in the healthcare, consumer goods, consulting or venture capital
sectors encourage the most competitive candidates of top business schools to engage in a fair but tough competition over a business
case. Winning teams get great visibility and often gain a fast track to a summer internship engagement and more.
Even if some employers are not able to come on campus, it does not mean they are not interested in you: Career Service coordinates
applications to online job-postings on the Schools platform and helps recruiters to select candidates for interviews directly from the
CV Database.
Career Service also encourages entrepreneurship and partners with students who seek emplyment on their own, providing advice and
facilitating contacts.

Full-Time MBA | 35

Gain hands-on experience with summer projects

From eight to twelve weeks between June and August you can apply to real life what you have learned in the
classroom, tackling challenging, real business problems in one of the following activities:

INDIVIDUAL SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

WITHIN A COMPANY
You attended the Career Service workshops, went through
a number of selection processes and scored an internship
with a great employer: well done! It is your chance to put
your skills to work and show your relationship abilities
while contributing to a strategic project. It is also a great
networking opportunity allowing you to see for yourself what
your next career step may be.

ENTREPRENEURIAL PROJECTS
Do you have a cool business idea or a family business
to expand? Under the supervision of a professor
in entrepreneurship you will create your own business plan,
organize a start-up or contribute to a company business
development project.

RESEARCH PAPERS
Do you enjoy analyzing and exploring business issues
in-depth? You may submit a research proposal to the MBA
Director and get the chance to write an original research
paper under the supervision of a Faculty member.

The exposure to the job market received during the

internship recruiting phase is certainly unique: it
gives you a glance on many different industries and
job functions, leaving to your interest, desire and
passion the possibility to further deepen the topic.

We support your post-MBA job search

The permanent recruiting campaign starts ofcially in June, when the 1000+ employers and alumni in our database
receive a hard or soft copy of the current class CV Book, and continues after graduation.

For permanent jobs, the bar is even higher: the selection process
for the most sought-after MBA rotational programs or key
management positions is really tough. The good news is that
by this time most MBA candidates have developed excellent
networking and interviewing skills, have a summer internship
experience under their belt and are able to interact effectively
with recruiters.
This is also where you make us the most proud and contribute to
raising the prole of our School with the best global employers.
Still searching for your ideal job after graduation? You will nd that
the Career Service team will continue supporting you long after
you have left the campus. We will stay in touch, continuing to
advise you individually and sending contacts and job
opportunities your way: together we will succeed.

MAIN CLUB EVENTS

The Rolex MBAs Conference and Regatta. This annual regatta is the most popular
event organized by SDA Bocconi in partnership with Rolex and Yacht Club Italiano.
It brings together students and alumni of the worlds top business schools with managers
from leading Italian and international organizations. A conference on emerging issues also
takes place alongside the regatta: students, alumni and guests from universities, industry
and nance join together for an exchange of ideas. The 2014 edition of the regatta took
place in Santa Margherita Ligure and Portono. Through the years the event hosted schools
such as Harvard, Tuck, Wharton and London Business School.
The MBA Ski Cup. The MBA Ski Cup was one of the main events of 2015. The 11th edition
of the Ski Cup was held in Madonna di Campiglio. Through the years the event has seen
a growing participation of students and alumni as well as guests from other prestigious
European Business Schools.

In terms of managerial experience, what you

get out of the MBA depends on what you
put in. The school provides opportunities to
gain management experience, through
clubs, business simulations, and role-playsbut it's up to us to grab those opportunities.

International Competitions
Every year our students participate in a number of international competitions
where they meet and compete against teams from other Schools. Students from
the class of 2013 won the A.T. Kearney Global Prize competition, while MBA
2014 students won second place at the Venture Capital Investment Competition
at IESE in Barcelona. SDA Bocconi team came second in the 2015 Healthcare
Case Competition organized by Warwick Business School in London.

Taking part in the WBS Competition allowed us to test our

business skills and challenge other MBA students from all
the world. Teamwork is key in such environments, and our
team did an excellent job also because we were aware of
our individual strengths - we knew from the very
beginning how to work with each other.
DAVIDE SCANNAPIECO | MBA 2015 | Italian

We had won the race at the event that we had organized so
