1.0 Purpose of Method Statement


Honeycombs at the permanent lining of tunnels are vertical or overhead. So, especially the
materials shall be compatible to have a proper vertical or overhead application.

This

method statement provides details of the materials and procedure of rectification of


honeycombs at permanent lining of tunnels.

2.0 Responsibilities for activity Describe within this Method Statement


Qaqc manager, senior materials engineer, Section Engineer and other relevant personals are
responsible for the rectification.

3.0 Materials
X-Roc GalZinc (anticorrosive paint), X-Roc EpoxyBond (bonding agent), X-Roc
UltraPatch (repair mortar), X-Roc BondCure (curing agent)

4.0 Detailed method of carrying out method statement activity


a) The honeycombed area will be marked and cut in rectangular regular shapes (with
rectangular corners) with minimum depth of 10mm.
b) Then the area will be chipped and all the loose particles, dust will be removed.
c) If reinforcements get exposed, they will be cleaned by wire brushing and for additional
protection against corrosion, they will be coated with X-Roc GalZinc (Anticorrosive
paint)
d) After the surface preparation is finished, priming shall be begun with bonding agent XRoc EpoxyBond. Mixing and application will be as per the enclosed manufacturers
technical data sheet.
e) The repair mortar (X-Roc UltraPatch) shall be prepared as per the manufacturers
technical data sheet (enclosed herewith) and applied over the prepared concrete surface
by trowelling while the primer is still tacky. We have used X-Roc UltraPatch already at
Bambarenda tunnel and the color of it is matched with the color of the finished concrete
surface. So, it is suggested that additional effort on color matching will not be required.

f) When the finished surface is touch dry, curing agent (X-Roc BondCure) will be applied
over.
g) Entire rectification will be done, under the close supervision of the Engineer.
If the repairing thickness is <10mm what will be the material?
As mentioned in the MS, we will maintain a minimum depth (repairing thickness) of 10 mm for each
rectification

In charge/responsible officers for repairing works at each tunnel are;

Mr. Xu (0776539891) - Tunnel at Bambarenda

On each step of work ISG should be issued for engineers inspection
