PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to outline the procedure and the requirements to be
reviewed prior to undertaking any welding-related contracts.

PROCEDURE
All enquiries, tenders, RFQs, contracts shall be received by CAC
CAC shall register the enquiry in the tender book/ register
The enquiry shall be submitted to the Welding Engineering Manager
The Welding Engineering manager shall set up a meeting to review the enquiry
The meeting shall be attended by all members of the tender board as well as the TE
management team responsible for the marketing, design, product development and

the COO.
The agenda of the meeting shall be as follows in the very least;
o Statutory requirements
o Product standard requirements
o Technical capabilities to manufacture/ work on the job
o Use of special methods
o Type of material and welding processes
o Subcontracting
o Availability of welding procedure specifications
o Availability of qualified welders
o Quality control arrangements
o Inspection and testing
o Post-weld heat treatment
o Weld locations and welding sites i.e. site or shop
o Non conformances
In the event of insufficient information, another meeting will be held to discuss the
outstanding requirements

The minutes shall be filed by CAC in accordance with the procedures outlined by ISO
9001 for record keeping purposes.

SKILLS

Reviewers shall comprise of personnel such as competent welding engineers or at least

welding technologists in order to be able to conduct the review successfully.

KNOWLEDGE

The reviewers shall have, as minimum, the following knowledge:

Welding processes and equipment

Welding fabrication, codes and quality
NDT of welded structures
Design and construction on welded structures
Welding metallurgy and weldability
Drawing office practice
3-D Design and draughting principles

Structural mechanics
Finite element principles
Basic IT Systems
