GOLD

Gold is a precious metal with yellow color and a metallic brightness, its very
malleable and ductile. Its one of the least reactive chemical elements and is solid
in standard conditions. Its an element that is created thanks to the extreme
conditions in the collapsing core of supernovae. A study suggest that the planets
gold came from the collision of neutron stars.
Chemistry: Gold is a chemical element with symbol Au, and atomic number 79
that is located in the 11 or IB group in the periodic table. Also gold is highly inactive
in terms of radioactivity, its inalterable by water, air, weather, dampness and many
of chemical reactive. Although gold can be dissolved with in oxidant mixtures like
alkaline cyanides or aqua regia.
Physical proprieties: Gold is considered the most malleable and ductile metal
that is known. A single gram of gold can be transformed into 1 kilometer of thread.
It's a good conductor of heat and electricity. Also its a very dense metal with a high
melting point and high electron affinity.
Geology and petrology: Gold occurs often in its native form, as nuggets or grains
in rocks, in veins and alluvial deposits. Generally gold is associated with others
minerals, especially iron-sulfides like pyrite, pyrrotine and arsenopyrite.
Extraction: In the modern mining, we can use two great way to extract the gold.
1. Underground mining. We use this way when the gold occurs in veins. There
are a great quantity of exploitation methods, but the best is over cut and fill,
thats because its very versatile.
2. Open pit. We use this way when the gold occurs in alluvial deposits or
stockworks. We dont have to make underground excavations but for an
efficient work, this method needs a good mechanization degree.
After that, we have to put the minerals that contain gold with cyanide and then we
will be able to melt down it and get the dore bar.
Jewelery: The 50% of the world production of gold is used in jewelery, 40% in
reserves or inversions and only 10% is used in the industries.
We can found all types of gold jewelry like rings, bracelets, necklaces, coins,
ornaments, etc. In jewelry, 18k gold is very bright and colorful, but expensive and
not very resistant; the medium gold is the most widely used in jewelry, because it is
less expensive than 18k gold and tougher, and 10k gold is the simplest.

In jewelry the different alloys with gold are used to get different colors for example:

Yellow gold = 1000g of yellow gold contains 750 g gold, 125 g silver and 125
of copper.

Red gold = 1000 g red gold contains 750 g gold and 250 g of copper.

Pink Gold = 1000 g pink gold contains 750 g gold ,50 g silver and 200 g of
copper.

White gold = 1000 g white gold contains 750 g gold, 160 g palladium and 90
g of silver.

Gray gold = 1000 g gray gold contains 750 g gold ,150 g of nickel and 100 g
of copper.

Green gold = 1000 g of green gold contains 750 g of gold and 250 grams of
silver.

Blue gold = 1000 g of blue gold contains 750 g gold and 250 g of iron.

Other Applications: Gold also is used in medicine, in the industries, in the best
kitchens.

In medicine gold is used like anti-inflammatory in the arthritis treatment and

in others rheumatic diseases. Also the gold isotope 198 is used in some
cancers treatments.

In the industries gold is used in the communications of the spacecrafts

parts, in the motor of the jets, etc.

In gourmet restaurants the gold is used in some dishes and drinks, the
desserts or meals have comestible gold in dust as ingredient, and this gold
has to be pure, this means 24K gold, only this gold can be digested.
