2 TSM INFORMATION
Why should you use the Technical Service Manual Oc CS4300?
The TSM Oc CS4300 is one of the tools you will need for your work.
It will enable you to meet customer requirements better, quicker and in a clearly structured and
accessible way.
The TSM provides you with information you will require for installing and carrying out corrective
and preventive
maintenance on this machine.
At whom is the TSM Oc CS4300 scanner serie targeted?
This TSM has certainly not been written as a teach-yourself manual.
During the Oc CS4300 service training course you will learn to use and interpret the TSM in such
a way that you can
work quickly and efficiently.
The service training course also gives you an opportunity to broaden your knowledge on how the
machine functions.
The TSM and service training course are closely linked.
Participating in a service training course without using the TSM is just as incomplete as using the
TSM without having
learned how to use and interpret it in a service training course.
The compilers of the TSM hope that you will find adequate information so that you can do your
work quickly, correctly
and with a continuing sense of satisfaction.
Feedback
Naturally, this TSM is always open to improvement. It is not unlikely that you may find
imperfections and/or errors.
Oc would be grateful if you would inform ITC (International Training Centre) in Venlo of any
errors, imperfections
or suggestions for improvement. You can do this as follows:
This chapter contains a Document Change Request Form (DCRF).
Copy this Form and enter any remarks you may have about this manual.
Send the DCRF to the Technical Co-ordination department. This department will inform the
International Training
Centre-Service. The address is:

3 GENERAL WARNINGS
We would like to draw your attention to the general warnings, summarized on this page. You will
find specific warnings
further on in the TSM in the descriptions of operations that have to be carried out in dangerous
circumstances.
1 Avoid damaging PBA's via electrostatic discharges. You should wear the wristband, code no.
7991.320 and use the
antistatic mat, code no. 7991.322.
2 AVOID ELECTRIC SHOCKS!
Switch off the power supply to the machine and remove the mains plug from the wall socket if the
machine does not
need to be on when you are working on it.
3 AVOID MOVING PARTS!
When you remove the panels from the machine, make sure that you do not get your fingers caught
between moving
parts such as chains, cogs and gear belts.
4 This equipment must be earthed.
5 This equipment is not suitable for connecting to an IT-power system, often used in stand-alone
power systems (for
instance offshore, mining). When in doubt consult your Technical Coordinator.
6 Always ensure that wall sockets and power switches are easily accessible.
7 A blown fuse does not guarantee a powerless situation.
8 When replacing a mains cable or mains plug, only use components which comply with local
regulations.
4 NOTATION CONVENTIONS
Wherever necessary, the following points for attention are indicated in this TSM.
Note:
A "Note" provides information that is essential for a correct functioning of the machine. It
may also offer useful advice
about its operation.
Warning:
A "Warning" provides information that can prevent the product (copy, original, the copier,
etc.) from being damaged.
Caution:
A "Caution" provides information that prevents you from suffering personal injury.
Approx.:
Whenever a measurement is indicated with the expression approximately or approx., non
calibrated measuring instruments
can be used.
For code numbers of tools, jigs or measuring instruments please refer to the parts list.
5 FUNCTIONAL TEST
After every service do the following functional test:
- Make a copy of a typical original used by the customer.
- Show the copy to the customer.
- The customer must agree that the machine is performing according to their expectations
and within the machine
specifications laid down in this Technical Service Manual.

2. Maintenance
Prerequisites: the output system used to validate the quality must be in a correct working situation.
In case the output of the scanner is printed:
Check Printer:
-Is the printer working without any messages (error or warning)
-Is a test printed from File OK
-Are the printing settings correct (quality etc)
Check Scanner:
Prerequisites: Customer maintenance must be done, and no consumables must be in a state that
need replacement.
Troubleshoot the Oc CS4300 scanner serie scanner hardware.
Detailed trouble shooting information is available in the Oc CS4300 Scanner serie
User Manual.
Have a look in the following chapter of the Manual:
Troubleshooting in the User manual or Chapter 9 of this TSM.
Note: The scanner validation option in scanner maintenance is a successful tool to
determine the need of cleaning or replacement of a consumable.
For detailed information see: Scanner maintenance

Troubleshoot Oc Copy Easy (Optional)
The following steps are possible to troubleshoot Oc Copy Easy:
Check the scanner indicator (coloured circle):
- Green colour: The system is OK
- Other colour: Move the cursor on the text of the scanner.
Check the information. Examples: Not connected, Sleep mode, ...
Check the colour of the copy button:

4.1.3 Adjustments
IMPORTANT: The output voltages of the SMPS are all factory set and should normally not be
adjusted.
The 5.3V output voltage should be no more than 5.3 V measured between GND and TB2, pin 1,2
(5.3V) on the SMPS, and no less than 5.1 V measured between GND and D3, bottom on the CBK
board. If the voltage is not within these limits, it may be adjusted by potentiometer VR1 on the
SMPS.

Control of Camera Motor
The Camera Motor for Vertical Alignment is driven from a controller IC on the CBK Board. The
supply voltage for the motor is +12 V.
The motor can be tested using test 9, Camera Adjustment (Forward / Reverse controls for the
Camera Motor)
After replacement of CBM Board, do:
SCA adjustment,
Do Scanner Maintenance.
Do not loose the Camera Fixing Screws and the Focus Lock Ring / Lock Screw.

An undefined switch setting may cause the Invalid Scanner ID Error Code to be displayed on the
Operator Panel.
IMPORTANT: The Scanner ID Switch setting is stored in the Flash Memory on the SUx board.
Every time the scanner is switched ON, it reads the switch setting and if it is different from the
stored value, the new setting will be stored and all other stored scanner parameters (including
Stitching, Basic Calibration and Color Calibration) will be cleared to default values. This means
that the scanner must be calibrated using Scanner Maintenance afterwards to restore the actual
values.

On cameras with motor: Loosen the lock screw for the Vertical Alignment Arm (located under
the camera housing opposite to the Vertical Alignment Arm)
On the fixed camera (camera B) locate the upper half of the Vertical Alignment Arm which is
attached to the spindle console.
Loosen the fixing screw and remove the arm. The end opposite to the spindle end is now used as
a spanner for adjusting the Vertical Position, see Fig. 5-3 page 43.
Set the Vertical Tilt Levers to their nominal positions, that is, horizontal position for the lever
near the connector end of the camera board and vertical position for the other.
Turn the Vertical Adjustment Screw using the spanner to get as total sum of 16 Black Lines
(f.ex. 5 Black Lines at the start and 11 Black Lines at the end of the scanline).
On cameras with motor: Tighten the lock screw for the Vertical Alignment Arm and proceed
with the camera adjustment as described later in this chapter.
Do not loose the Camera Fixing Screws and the Focus Lock Ring / Lock Screw.

Vertical Alignment to align the cameras
Horizontal Stitching to stitch the cameras
The two buttons marked "<<" respectively ">>" are used to start the motor and to determine the
direction of rotation. When stated, the motor runs for dddd mili-seconds as entered into the control
field.
6.9 Test 12, Adjustment of Y-Axis Scaling
Purpose: To adjust the Y-Axis Scaling.
Description: The scaling (dpi) in the mechanical scan direction (Y-Axis) depends on the speed of
the stepper motor relative to the scanline Exposure Time. The default motor speed can be changed
