Youdefineabearingconnectorbetweensplitcylindricalfacesofashaftandcylindricalor
sphericalfacesofahousing.Youcanuseabearingconnectorwhenthehousingisnotmuch
stifferthantheshaft.
Todefineabearingbetweentheshaftandthehousing,rightclickConnectionsinthe
SimulationstudytreeandselectBearing.
Theexplodedviewshowsacylindricalsplitfaceofashaftconnectedtoasphericalfaceof
thehousing.

SolidWorksSimulationusestwomethodsforimplementingtheBearingconnector,
dependingonwhetherthebearingisSelfAligningornot.TheAllowselfalignment

radiallyaroundtheshaftwhichareprojectedfromonesurfaceoftheshafttothesurfaceofthe
housingyouhaveselectedtodefinethebearingconnector.

Selfaligning
ASelfaligningbearingallowsoffaxisrotationoftheshaft.Thistypicallycorrespondstoa
selfaligningballbearingwithtworowsofballsandacommonconcavespheredracewayin
theouterring.Itsimulatesabearinginsensitivetoangularmisalignmentsoftheshaftrelative
tothehousing,andwhichoffersnoresistancetoabendingdeformationoftheshaft.
