COURSE DESCRIPTION:
During this introductory course you will learn the fundamentals of AutoCAD 2014. Starting with an introduction to
the Windows 7 operating system, you become familiar with the tools required for proper folder and file
management. You will then develop skills using the vital drawing and editing commands to create AutoCAD
drawings as well as produce hard copy plots of your work. Completed drawing assignments will be based on
construction content.

and use the basic working vocabulary of the
software.

program interface and provide appropriate input to

3. Modify drawing settings to produce standard
font, line types, line weights, dimensions and
scaled output.

2. Employ AutoCADs drawing and editing

techniques to produce digital drawing files as
well as hard copy prints.

1. Execute AutoCADs various draw commands to

accurately arrange entities that will represent
construction elements.
2. Effectively use OSNAPS and coordinate entry
methods when placing drawing entities to maintain
an accurate drawing database.
3. Use AutoCADs dimensioning and text
commands to accurately annotate a drawing.
4. Modify drawings with the suitable AutoCAD
editing command to correct and/or alter a design.
5. Produce scaled plotted drawings of typical
construction projects or products to industry
standards.

3. Operate AutoCAD to increase your

productivity and effectiveness by generating
various drawings that relate to the construction
industry.

1. Navigate through the areas of a drawing by

utilizing AutoCADs various display commands.
2. Select multiple entities within a drawing using
the available advanced selection methods.
3. Extract design data from AutoCAD entities
using the appropriate inquiry command.
4. Control the appearance and display of multiple
entities with the layer manager tool.
5. Apply conventional hatch patterns to AutoCAD
entities that will represent appropriate construction
materials.
6. Develop and place AutoCAD blocks consisting
of multiple entities used to represent typical
construction products.
