Romulus and Remus: speaking skill

Read the text below and discuss with your peers how you could perform the play. Assign the different roles, rehearse together and present your work. Don't forget to
use props.

Narrator 1:

The city called Alba Longa, on the banks of the river Tiber, was ruled by King Numitor. He had a daughter called Rhea Silvia. King Numitor's brother,
Amulius, sent the king away and took power.

Narrator 2:

Rhea Silvia married Mars, the God of War. She gave birth to twin boys.

Amulius:

I want these children to be drowned!

Narrator 3:

But the servant in charge put them in a cradle and left them floating on the river.

Narrator 4:

A she-wolf found the twins and fed them. One day, a shepherd found the boys and decided to bring them home to his wife. They called them Romulus
and Remus.

Romulus:

Remus, did you hear about Amulius? He is our great-uncle and he wanted us to be killed when we were babies!

Remus:

Yes, how terrible! Let's go to Alba Longa to kill him and destroy the city!

Narrator 5:

And so they did.


After that, Romulus and Remus decided to build a new city. They did. But at some point they disagreed and fought. Romulus killed Remus.

Narrator 2:

And Romulus became King of Rome, the city named after him.
