To think that the world is something more. To think that the world is deeper beyond

imagining, deeper beyond understanding, deeper beyond perceiving. That humans are merely

caged prisoners in a dark cave, that what humans see are merely the shadows of the brilliant, that

all lives are born in the dark of the malevolent kind. To be given that chance to see the truth, to

see what creates these mysterious shadows, these mysterious noises, these mysterious thoughts is

an opportunity beyond the grasp of the simple mind. Beyond my mind. This chance I would turn

down due to the heartache, the pain, and the social disbelief that will follow and the clear and

present solution to such a problem.

Humans are automatically programmed to not believe what they hear; they must instead

have a proof that can lie in as simple as a bloody gun to as complex as the mathematical proof

that leads to the Fundamental Theorem of Quantum Atomic Mechanics. Humans are disbelieving

people due to the main point that Plato makes in which men are only able to see the shadows.

Men have accepted what perception leads as reality and will fully defend what they see to the

death; there is no other way for them. To push myself into the light and back is a dangerous

journey, full of harrowing death and deathly harrows.

People would condemn my journey, view me as an intellectual psychotic, a paradoxical

oxymoron, and not accept the reiteration of truth without fully understanding the truth

themselves. This is common human behavior; Some people aren’t ready for the truth, won’t have

the mind capability, or won’t be able to understand what is told. This causes a destabilization as

Plato says of human intellect and human perception. I would fear the pain that would result from

the social neglect of me and my ideas. I would be hunted down, called many names, and have a

crown of inglorious pompous fool shoved upon my head. No philosopher deserves this, but it

will come to each and everyone as they travel out to the light and back again. To believe that

your views won’t be challenged is simply naïve.

I may seem fearful, an uncourageous ignorant fool, but I am not. Instead, I follow a

different path then set out by these two dissimilar groups. I choose the path of support. I choose

to stay chained and choose another to go. On their return to the darkness I would garner support

for them, for their new educated views and try and help them through their time of weakness. I

will lead them through the dark as they lead the dark out of me. I will protect them, defend them,

hurt for them. There has to be at home support for a philosopher to gain social acceptance. There

has to be a root to grab onto before the tidal river of human ignorance washes them and their

ideas away. Knowledge is great, to ignore it is pure stupidity, but sometimes, stupidity is needed

to gain knowledge. Plato is a little outdated, and didn’t realize an easy fix. Humans will listen to

other chained humans. A man will take a pill if it’s sweeter to the taste. One must stay in the

darkness while another ventures forward into the bliss of light.

So an ugly choice has to be made. One has to choose the path that is less taken in the less

taken path. Knowledge is key in a changing world, but so are people that will believe. Without

belief, everybody would have to venture out to see the truth, a truly wasteful event that would

cause the madness of many. Instead, send a few and prepare the masses for the true knowledge

that is to come. I choose, instead, to become a student.
