PA Student Association: an alliance of sorts between 18 universities state wide to lobby

to state and federal government to lower tuition. Our Response: The 14 state schools
that make up the PASSHE are paying much lower tuition because they are state
schools. What incentive do they have to join with Penn State?

PA & National Tuition/Appropriation Efforts: Similar to PA Student Association only

focusing just on our University. Our Response: Based on the previous year where
governmental affairs was headed up BY VP candidate Smith, we cannot
foresee how amy progress will be accomplished. Where is the plan on how
this is going to work?

Presidential Round Table: Currently the VP of student affairs hosts regular round tables
with presidents of major campus organizations. Regland wants to expand and build on
this because it is beneficial to gather together a community of leaders for penn state.
Our Response: We agree completely with this idea and expect to implement it as well.

Green Initiatives- These are the green
initiatives that also save the university
money.
Diversity Round tables- It is well known
that Penn State is amongst the most
diverse universities in the world. A
regular, intellectual discussion will help
further the union of cultures on
campus.
Commission on student safety-
Nothing is more important than the
safety of Penn State students, faculty,
and employees. University Park is a
home for all of us and no one should
be afraid in their own home. This
council will best allow university
leadership to address the growing
safety concerns of residents.
Non voting student in borough council-
A simple voice, and observer for the
university’s undergraduate population
will help to better connect the
university with the town of State
college.
Refute
GPS Tracking of CATA buses- Only
three major bus stops on campus,
east, west, and shortlidge. Most of the
congestion happens in town. Why
spend that much money so three stops
can benefit from it
Student to Student- Again the objective
of this initiative could be achieved by
student socialization. This is an
unnecessary expenditure, the funds for
which could be diverted to cut down on
tuition.
Green Initiatives- While ecological
conservation is admirable, the fact is
many of the means by which it is
accomplished is often expensive. While
“green” alternatives should be
explored, unless they prove cost
effective, the should not be
implemented.
YouVote- An unnecessary initiative.
Yes very few students participated in
the elections last fall. The reason for
this was because they were local
elections. It is well known that penn
state draws students from throughout
the state, country, and world. We
should not be alarmed by a low turnout
in a local election.
