DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs Phlebotomy, makes sure that correct blood collection tubes are
used and properly labeled.
Verifies patient identification against request form and ensures proper
labeling of specimen before running the tests
Makes sure that the machines are properly calibrated and in control
Plots Levy-Jennings chart and monitors room temperature
Does basic troubleshooting, as well as, weekly and monthly maintenance
of machines
Orders supplies and monitors weekly inventory of reagents
Does census of laboratory procedures done in a daily and monthly basis
Consults pathologist for opinions like correlations and panic values
Alerts/reports panic values to the nurse station in case of admitted
patients, and to the referring physician in case of outpatients
Accomplishes patient reports accurately within the given turn-around time

CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY AND SEROLOGY

o Performs Widal test, Typhidot, CRP, ASOT Titer, RF Factor
o Tumor Markers(CEA, CA 125, CA 19-9, AFP, PSA, FreePSA Thyroid
Function Tests (TSH, T4, FT3, FT4, Thyroglobulin, Reproductive
Studies (Total beta HCG, free beta HCG, Estradiol, Progesterone,
DHEA-SO4, ACTH, Growth Hormone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin,
Insulin Growth Factor-1, Insulin, C-Peptide)
o Accomplishes Comprehensive Hepatitis Profile (HbsAg, Anti-HBs,
HbeAg, HAV IgM, Hav IgG, HCV,), and Serological Testing for Viral
Diseases (CMV Igg/IgM, Rubella IgG/IgM, Executes Serological
Testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (RPR,Clamydia Antigen
Test), and H. Pylori qualitative.

CLINICAL CHEMISTRY
o Performs routine blood and body fluids chemistry tests such as Blood
Sugar, Lipid Profile, BUN, Creatinine, Uric Acid, SGPT, SGOT, Total
protein, Albumin, Total CK, LDH, Acid Phosphatase etc.
o Performs cardiac tests.
o Performs serum and other body fluids osmolality.
HEMATOLOGY
o Test blood specimens for Complete Blood Count, , Erythrocyte
Sedimentation Rate
o Performs Manual Differential Count
o Coagulation Test (PT,APTT,INR)
o Malaria Parasite
CLINICAL MICROSCOPY
o Performs Routine Urinalysis, Fecalysis and Fecal Occult Blood Testing
PHLEBOTOMY
o Checks request, specimen needed and verifies patient identification
against request form and ensures proper labeling of specimen.
o Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
o Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following
department procedures; observing isolation procedures.
