GUIDELINES FOR DRILLING ACTIVITIES:

The site-specific hazards and potential risks associated with known conditions at the property
or work area should be identified, reviewed and addressed in the site-specific health and
safety plan. The site-specific of health and safety plan should be reviewed by project staff and
readily available to them onsite during fieldwork.
This drilling safety guideline has been prepared to assist the environmental remediation
industry in understanding drilling and direct push safety guidelines and common practices.

Conducting a TAKE 5 risk assessment before beginning a new task

1. Think Through the Task
2. Recognize the Hazard
3. Assess the Risk
4. Control the Risk
5. Keep Safety First

Strictly following all applicable Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and company safety
standards

Performing Job Safety Analysis (JSA) often

Locking out equipment prior to completing any maintenance

Participating in internal and third-party safety audits to ensure the system continues to
meet the evolving risks in our industry.

Proper pre-fieldwork planning and proactive adjustment of planned safe work

procedures to actual conditions in the field.

Scheduling and obtaining access agreements on drilling site

Positioning the borehole should be taken seriously, all relevant information about each
site to assist in identifying hazards, locations, and the necessary permit.

Obtaining required permits for drilling activities under applicable local, state and
federal laws

Proper storage and material handling which mean to have a safe, smooth startup and
organized work area prior to commencing drilling operations

Fire prevention and safety equipment should be addressed prior to commencing any
job

Drill Rig Stabilization should be performed properly to ensure safe drilling operations
which include rig placement, jacks, blocking (cribbing) and use of wheel chocks.

General safety in the worksite should be followed as follow:o Wear proper PPE in worksite
o All employees should have proper training and familiar with the operational
hazards involved
o Proper housekeeping on and around the drilling rig must be done in order to
reduce accidents
