I have held several positions while employed for the last 9 years with this
agency. Trauma work invigorates me. It is fulfilling to watch an individual
reduce old fears and get control of their lives. On February 1, 2008 I
transferred from our Quincy, WA (small outstation) to our main office in
Moses Lake, WA. I worked full-time as a Brief Therapist on the Children’s
team. My caseload varied from 30 to 50 clients which are primarily under 18
years of age. Most of these children come from the lower income levels and is
an underserved population. I work with these children one on one and find it
very rewarding to see results in their lives sometimes very quickly. I deal with
1
children who have issues such as ADHD, behavioral problems at home and
school. Working one on one with these children gives me an opportunity to
get to the root of the problem. Oftentimes they have no boundaries at home
and then cause trouble at school. I draw up treatment plans and give them
homework. It is frustrating though, because in some instances the parent or
guardian needs help themselves.
PETER N. HOLLY
I transferred into the Children’s Team as a Case Manager next. It was a nice
change. I love working with
children. Depending on the age of the child, I would take them to the park.
We would play some basketball,
or just hang. I would try to make them comfortable and try to get them to
talk about what was bugging them.
I would report to the Therapist in charge of their case to help him or her know
how their treatment plan and
“homework” assignments were going. As a Case Manager you are not doing
therapy, but following the
therapist’s treatment plan and helping the client to achieve their goals.
