Introduction
Depressive disorders are characterized by sadness severe
enough to interfere with function by often decreased interest in activities.
Exact cause is unknown but probably involves heredity, changes in
neurotransmitter levels, altered neuroendocrine function and psychosocial
factors. Diagnosis is based on history. Treatment usually consist of drugs,
psychotherapy or both and sometimes electroconvulsive therapy.
The client that we interviewed was Ms. Aike B. Bacolod. Shes
18 years of age, residing in Dinagat Islands. Their family is composed of 7
members. She has 3 brothers and 1 sister. She ranked as 5 th child or the
youngest one. She spent her Elementary days at Aurelio Elementary
School and High School days at ____. Now, shes currently schooling as a
freshmen student at Caraga State University taking up a Bachelor of
Science in Mining Engineering.
Ms. Aike Bacolod experienced severe depression due to family
problems that shes facing through. Her family was close-tied before. They
usually do like what other family do. They spent their time being together.
But all of those things change when she reaches in Grade four level. She
just receives news that his father had an affair with another woman and
that woman was now already bearing their child.
Many days, months, and years passes by, both of her parents
became cold with each other. Theyre always arguing even in just small
things. All the family members also became unapproachable and they
dont care for everyone inside their house.
Because of depression, her daily living is very affected. In
physical, Sometimes, She skipped her meals and preferred to play DOTA
and any computer games to divert her attention.
In Social, She would prefer to alone than to be others
companioning because shes already unto it.

In Emotional, She is always in her room silently crying. She

attempts to commit suicide by scratching her arms using a sharp blade
until it is almost closed to her veins and she takes a lot of unprescribed
medicines and also an alcohol.
In Moral, She easily gets feeling down and hatred every time
people especially her friends didnt have any interest in listening about
her family problems. And through with that, she didnt open up that topic
anymore to anybody.
In Spiritual, She didnt know how to pray because her parents
didnt practiced her doing it. She didnt also go to church because even if
she believe in God, is didnt believe in any religion.
Family is the basic part of the community. If one family is
unhealthy, then I could slowly affect our country.
