This week we are learning:
Circle Time Review
This week in circle time we will
continue with reviewing the days of
the week, months of the year, and the
weather. We will practice practice
introducing ourselves to the class
and ask each other questions in
English, using complete sentences.
At the beginning of the week, we will
be playing games such as the
crocodile game, races and golfing
with vocabulary with the new
vocabulary from last week. We will
continue practicing the new
vocabulary games by playing new
games, having competitions, and
making medals.
Review

Phonics

This week in phonics we will begin

with a review of what we learned in
last week as well as a brief review
of what we learned last semester.
We will go through a
comprehensive review of all the
short vowel sounds, in addition to
last weeks new vocabulary. We
will then transition to our phonics
books for semester 2 the Pelangi
Phonics Reader and Activity Book
3. I will introduce the letter blends
cr, dr, fr, pr, and st and we will
practice using the new vocabulary
in complete sentences and
reviewing the flashcards. We will
play a variety of games to help
review such as; rock paper
scissors, bingo, golfing, spelling
races, coloring competition, etc.

Activity Time

This week during activity time we will continue to focus on the vocabulary for the
current unit games. We will complete a variety of activities to focus on
developing the students reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. I will be
reviewing and using this units vocabulary to prepare for the second weekly
spelling test.
- Use hangman to review previously studied vocabulary from old topics. Good
warm up to activity time.
-Use bingo to review numbers, picture association, short words.
-Rock paper scissors and thumb war to teach win/lose vocabulary.
-Noughts and crosses can be played on a large board with the whole class and
used in conjunction with flashcards.
-Making medals from ribbons and chocolate coins to reward children who succeed
-Stage a prize-giving ceremony.
-Staged sports day style event with competitions.
-Colouring competition winners and losers.
