ATTITUDE 101 The Foundations of Success and Happiness

ManOS
6 Pillars of Self Esteem
Psychology of SE for Alumni
Importance of rereading books

Values Exercise

Write down your values

Think about your day to day decisions

What crosses your mind, what are you working on?
What types of books do you read?
Who do you look up to? What traits do they have that you want?
Also look at the bad side, what creates negativity inside?
What stresses you out?

The more you write down the better, should have at least 8
Difference between physique and health
Local social circle, and international
Finances are different than your career or business

Confusion in your path and your values is when you arent aware of every area of your
life, so really spend some time and get down EVERY SINGLE VALUE

I lump some of the smaller ones together, but the more important the value is the more important it is to

Vision

Create an ideal vision that you want sometime in the next 6-12 months

Some length of time where the vision you want is attainable, like you could actually accomplish it
Ex: You want to have your own business and travel the world, do you know how to do that in the
next year, every step of the way?
Well get into clarifying more long term goals next week
You want to move to the city, what street are you going to live on?
What does it mean to have a better relationship with your father, how often would you call him, would you
plan trips together?

Purpose

Reason why you want all these things in your vision

Why am I even doing this?

Dig in deep
This is a self development tool to see what drives the decisions you make

Positive Purpose

The goal is to always keep your purpose positive

You dont want to be driven by negative motivators

Negative/Competitive Purpose

Can be very motivating

I want you to put these in a different category to be aware of them

Are you getting good with girls to prove to your ex girlfriend that youre better than her?
positive purpose which is your true core motivation
Put your negative purpose below the positive in RED letters, and make them italic so theyre hard to read. Haha

Goals
Have them measurable
Ask yourself, what would a 10 out of 10 goal for the next week be for me in this category?
Well focus on longer term goals next week
You can do that if you want, but this exercise is going to take a while, so I dont want you doing it all at once
This is how you build momentum, start with small goals you KNOW you can accomplish in one week
Ex: maybe its just texting your mom
Ex: or doing so many hours of research on a forum

Alright ManOS

ManOS Breakdown

Vision isnt clear at all

What is a successful business, what industry, etc.
like have a business making $6000 a month, etc.
Purpose is too short and doesnt explain how it will make him feel.
Ex: self esteem boosted, the freedom of running your own company, how it will allow him to enjoy a better
lifestyle? and the growth hell feel, etc.

Other goals are better

Be grateful goal, how could you measure that?
Maybe have a reminder on your phone, or on your computer screen
Quotes are cool
Living Situation, I like how he says it will help him grow as a man and build self reliance

Awesome ManOS
Same with the purpose
Goes in depth into how it will change his life, and affect the other areas of his life

Conclusion
priority values

Because you put so much mental awareness on them

Place them in order of importance to you
Again, if you dont know, the ones where the purpose is easier to write, are more important to you
Its alright if you dont have a long purpose for the end values, but try to make them as long as possible

Making decisions
Because you can see how they affect other areas of your life positively
Ex: Me with my business, and choosing to have a girlfriend to spend more time on work instead of partying

Ex: Your girlfriend wanting to spend too much time with you

Or your friends asking you to dinner when you have to work

You lower your self esteem when you live by someone elses values

How do you enjoy the moment NOW when you have this vision of what you want in the future?
Having CLEAR values, prioritizing and having a gameplan helps you focus on the future, without the stress
Life is about the journey, and GROWTH, put your focus on becoming more effective towards reaching the

goals, not on getting closer to reaching them

decisions
Will you be happy when you achieve that lifestyle? Yes, but because of the work and mental fortitude that you
developed to create that destiny, not just having it
So you enjoy the process of excelling at strategizing
Ex: Poker game. You are playing against an awesome player, and lose a hand, but when he shows his cards
you all of a sudden catch a tell. Youre excited because you know that you got him, and now its only a matter
of time, even though the cards havent been dealt yet
Ex: Me living at home at 30, creating Evolutions, not even sure it was being released but was growing a lot so
really enjoyed it and saw the long term impact

Send your ManOS every Sunday

Pick goals you can accomplish within one week

And send me a little update on whats new with your ManOS, if you had any issues, and new
realizations in working on it, or using it in your life

Intro
how to use these self help terms

Emotions

A physiologic response based on your perception of an event

The event itself is neutral

Why do some people cheer at a sporting event, some are sad?
Its their perception
Well talk more about this in week 4, how to reframe a situation into a positive
For now, view an emotion as a signal

Happiness

Positive emotion, you are living in alignment with your values

Importance of the ManOS

We have a governor for how happy we can be
You are afraid that happiness leads to complacency
Most successful people are not happy, and looking at that model, most people are never happy when they
have success
A good book for this is The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks

Social Conditioning

The values that your society has created

No one really wants to dictate your life, its more of an organic thing
But if you dont decide your values, someone else will
Most people follow societal values
They do what OTHER people think is right, instead of following their own values
Ex: People feel weird about RSD, and picking up girls
If not, and you still have a negative emotional response, you need to dive into that
Ex: Being embarrassed about your job
Ex: Friend and being a barista to be a comedian

Negative Emotions

Lump these all together and say they are when your life situation is not in alignment with how you
believe things to be
Change the belief, or change the mindset
If you dont have what you want, you automatically will think negatively because you dont believe you can get it,
so you have to FORCE positive thoughts until you start getting reference points
Ex: if you dont have money, youll think youll never be able to get it

youve done

Emotional Anchor

When you attach an emotion to one of the 5 senses

You hear a song when you kiss a girl, and have an emotional response whenever you hear it
Ex: How I consciously broke them with my ex girlfriend

Love

As objectively as possible, when you have an overwhelming number of varying emotional anchors
Tyler calls it a self hypnosis in the Blueprint
He is saying its under your control, and the hypnosis is the anchoring effect that youve unconsciously created

Ego

The costume you wear to interact in the world

Well talk more in depth about the life philosophy I espouse, a variation of existentialism in week 4
Which means its externally based, but you have to have an external based ego to interact with someone elses
ego

Self Esteem

Nathaniel Brandens Quote:

Self-esteem is the disposition to experience oneself as being competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and
of being worthy of happiness.
Explain
All you can control is your awareness

It should be your highest purpose

If you have high self esteem you can accomplish anything

Its more important than success, because success NEEDS self esteem

Tolle is about being present, enjoying the moment

Tony Robbins is about achievement
How to be present, enjoy the moment but achieve more

Its about enjoying the growth process, enjoying the journey, each moment, and being fully with it, fully present
Tolle doesnt say to never strategize or plan ahead, that would be stupid
People ask about just being a monk in a cave, look at your ManOS, if you ONLY valued your spirituality, then
maybe you could do that, but if you have other values, then youll never be happy
Yes, you could say what created those values, and well talk about that in later weeks, but for now, if you have
inner drives, you must create growth in each of those

Arrogance

How low self esteem people view high self esteem people
OR, how a low self esteem person trying to appear high self esteem acts
High Self esteem mixes with High self esteem
Someone asked me, How often do you give yourself credit?

Only a concern if you are around LSE people

Also, people are worried theyll get complacent if they give themselves too much credit, but were going for
positive motivators, self esteem motivation, not scarcity and negativity

Motivation

The desire to do something

More importantly: What creates that desire?

Your values and the reason WHY you want to achieve them
Your purpose
And you want them to be positive motivators so when you have achievement you feel accomplished and enjoy
it, not hollow
This is why we wrote down positive purposes

What should you do if you dont have motivation?

Get clearer on your values, and WHY you have them or want more
Surround yourself with better people
Average of your 5 closest friends
Ex: me with my friend and making $250k a year
Seriously if youre comfortable or not pushing yourself, get with cooler people
Ex: me not knowing if I should tuck my shirt in at steakhouse
Youre afraid to push your comfort zone
Start leaning into that edge
Baby steps

Will Power

Conscious control over your mind and actions to act

Not sustainable, only so much brain power you have per day

Much better to have a higher purpose, and a compelling vision, where its not a conscious control to work, you
WANT to work, youre compelled to work
Have a strong enough purpose and a clear strategy for how your going to achieve your goal
Its when you dont know why youre doing what youre doing that it becomes work
If you see the higher vision, it becomes easy
Ex: ManOS used in last video

How to use deadlines

Create real deadlines, make other people dependent on you

Ex: me with launch and Juliens launch, as well as staff
Ex: Tony Robbins and having a kid
Ex: competition, how someone else did it fast, and you want to do it faster

Success

The result of an accurate focused decision in the face of a challenge

Risk or challenge is necessary for it to be a success
Otherwise its just a decision
Like wearing black or white socks
So you need to shift your view of risk

used to taking risks

Proof that the decision you made was accurate, success is a result
Goal isnt to have success, its to have self esteem
How the higher your self esteem is, the more you look at the opportunity, and you dont give up when there is an
Build this by looking at the other areas of success you have
other skills

understand the path of long term success

Perfectionist, cant handle risk

Looking to other people for validation

Afraid to fail in front of others
They have a bad view of failure

Failure

A learning lesson
Fail as quickly as possible

Growing in Every area of your life

Success Barriers

Either dont feel worthy or afraid of added responsibility, or afraid of failure

You focus on yourself instead of what other people think of you

Luck
Ex: rich kid whos depressed, vs self made man
Good luck
Bad luck
RAS, there is always good or bad in every situation, if you focus on the good, youll get more of that
Shouldnt focus on the outcome but on your growth
