Intro
Wilhelm Reich was interested in life energy, i.e. energy that makes things live, that causes or
allows things to function, and worked on various forms of therapy to free blockages to this life
energy in the human body and human being.
2
Life energy which has been called many things such as prana was called orgone by Reich. Thus
Life is Energy.
Orgone is what is involved in all affairs, in emotions, physical actions, mental processes, et
cetera
States breathing influences emotions. If you breath fully and openly than you will feel full
(energized and content) and be open with your emotions.
States that a retention or not openly venting emotions is accompanied or accomplished by a
retention of breath, and that eventually this becomes 'permanent'. So obviously, then,
breathing practices would aid in getting rid of the retention of emotion, which has various
health benefits.
Some examples of retention are holding back the venting of emotions, tense muscles, anything
that hinders the natural functioning of the body, et cetera. Which, then, causes and is at the same
time caused by a blockage of life energy. This form of therapy aims at freeing energy or
eliminating energy blockages.
States repression or retention causes the life energy to double back on itself, which is
'expressed' in the form of an energy blockage. Thus, repression causes an energy blockage.
Exercise 1
Be aware of your breathing. What is it like? Does your belly, abdomen and chest expand and
contract? If not try breathing fully and openly to get them to. If they are still not try to relax and
eliminate physical tension especially in the arms and shoulders to be able to. What thoughts
hinder this open and full breathing?
2
Blocked breathing is the essence of armoring, which is Reich's name for the chronic muscle
tension and emotional repression most adults are imprisoned by in society.
States muscle tension and blocked breathing or hindered breathing are the means with which
people psychologically (subconsciously) stop themselves from emoting, i.e. venting or
expressing themselves emotionally as they healthily should. The emotions are trapped in the
tense muscles and hindered breathing.
Are repressed feeling have power. By freeing them you free their power and the energy that was
used to hold them back.
This opening or freeing process can be scary because it also frees the fear of the consequences
that initially caused us to tense up and repress our emotions, and changes are sense of self
which can be deeply unsettling to many.
This therapy values 'naturalness', and does not value force. Unfortunately, in society the

States that when people repress their emotions they do not go away, but rather go into the
unconscious (subconscious), which obviously influences the person through it. People repress
their emotions through muscle tension and hindering breathing usually unconsciously, but it is
done nonetheless. Through open and full breathing, and reevaluating our history, the moment,
and our emotions and the situations that caused them we can free ourselves of them and become
more mentally and emotionally flexible, physically healthy, and more able to deal with
situations both good and bad that come our way.
Emotions are not about whether we should feel this or that, they are simply there and it is up to
the person to understand and acknowledge them, and express them, so that he or she can adapt
emotionally and better deal with the world.
People need to find ways to discharge the tension in them. Free-breathing is a means to do this.
However, people need to acknowledge their emotional and mental states periodically. Pleasure
is also a way to eliminate tension, especially through orgasm, as sexual pleasure affects the
bodies muscles, the mind, and eliminates stress leaving the one who had an orgasm in a more
relaxed state. Of course, however, as there are different states of mind unique to people they
have to experiment and find other methods to help as well. Some through breathing and or
orgasm may rid themselves of most or all of the tension and stress, others may need more
means. Find what works for you. However, for some actions that would release stress and
tension for others actually build it or sometimes both release stress and tension and create new
stress and tension. For instance, sexual actions for a true Christian due to their perception of sex
as evil and sinful are likely to create new tension, however, for those like the ones who are
psuedo-rebels and create things like the Black Mass, believe in Christianity and that there are
Devils who condone orgies, are likely to actually release a lot of tension due to them gaining a
false sense of 'rebellion' and 'freedom' combined with the sexual act. In fact, some techniques
such as abstinence despite honestly being unhealthy can for some, if sex is done after a period
of abstinence release a lot of stress and tension, and create a lot of pleasure and this is why
followers have confused that release and pleasure with so-called 'holiness' despite in the
subconscious in some way knowing why they actually valued such practices, i.e. a build-up and
then release.
Orgasm and Sexual actions are one of the best means to discharge tension and stress both
physical and mental, due to the pleasure-principle, the biological and energetic processes it sets
in motion, and due to a significant amount of stress and tension in people having a sexual origin
as Freud and Wilhelm Reich explained, and as a simple study of how organisms survival
instinct connects with the procreative instinct, and a simply study of the subconscious.
A major goal of Reichian Therapy is the letting go of conscious control over everything and
allowing involuntary things to happen, such as allowing the subconscious and body to make
things happen, to simply relax. For instance, a many mind that has relinquished the conscious
control over everything that most people try to maintain, and has an orgasm is commonly
relaxed afterwords, and the body is going through involuntary (that is, without the conscious
mind inciting such) spasms, and movements, and the breathing gets deeper. Obviously, this
eliminates at least some stress and tension, and enables the subconscious and the body's own
mechanisms and 'healing' processes to function without the conscious mind hindering them.
The Pleasure-principle is another means of discharge, i.e. what one enjoys and enables on to
relax and let-go.
It is important to note that simple pleasure and sex however is not therapy. The heart of the
therapy is the letting go of conscious control and relaxing, it is letting our natural processes and
spontaneity cause actions and incite processes. For instance, frantic sex like guys who are afraid
any moment the girl will leave has not let go and is not relaxed, and so the sex is not likely to
help him much in terms of eliminating stress and tension. Religion more often than not is
another blockage to therapy, as they try to make people believe that spontaneity and natural
processes are evil and must be stopped, which creates a lot of tension, stress, anxiety, and other
health problems both mental, emotional, and physical. An in-depth and honest study of
psychology, stress and tension, and the release of them is obviously required if therapy is to
ever become ultimately successful. For some, taboo breaking is another means of eliminating
stress and tension, if they can stop worrying about consequences and or are sure there will be no
consequences. In other words, a study of the mind combined with all other phenomenon is
required, i.e. for instance, the effects of sex on the mind, drugs, physical actions such as
breathing, restrictions, law and what society tries to instill in people, and more and figuring
out what factors allow or hinder change and determine the nature of the change itself, and what
is at work in different individuals.
